Child Abuse

I recently saw a topic about hitting kids. Not wanting to bump it, I made this one. I think that everyone os getting a bitrazy about what child abuse is and isn't. I think that hiting your kids is okay in a controled amount. A slap on the head after something wrong is done is okay. A spanking )for bigger reasons) when they are younger is good punishment. A little slap on the cheek for when they say something wrong. Never all out hit them, just to as a punishment.

yea i agree. child abuse is like starving your kids, or really hitting them like making them bleed or get bruises. and even (and i shutter at the thought of this, but it must be said) people who molest thier kids. thats really disgusting. people who abuse thier kids should be sentenced to life in prison nd thier prison mate should be some psycho rapist person. lol.

I think hitting a kid in the head is wrong , even hitting a kid with your hand is alarming to me. A wooden yard stick or a belt would be better. Spank the child on the butt , the meaty part of the body. I've seen kids flinch when their parents reach for something by them. Its sad that a child fears their parents hands. With the yard stick or belt they wouldn't fear their parents in everyday situations.

It's not something to be afraid of. A light tap on the head, won't do anything. If I punch them, or hit them hard, then it will hurt them, but I only want them to hurt for a second. Not even hurt. Just enough to be unpleasent. Plus, with an item it would hurt more, and it would be like a beating. Plus it would take time. All I want is a short reminder.

I belive I had posted in tha aformentioned topic, but I may have not been very subtle and have come off as a mean person, so if anyone was offended, I apologize.

So far what has been agreed on in this topic has been in line with how I think.

When I was young, my parents either spanked me or clipped my ear. In a really bad situation, the yard stick would come out, but that didn't really hurt all that much. If I said a bad word, you'd get soap in the mouth. It wasn't anything big, but it taught me to respect my parents, and I hope that I'll be able to teach my child the same respect, although hopefully with less violence.

When I was younger, my mom had a boyfriend who would beat me every day.
He used to punch me and hit me, for no reason at all.
He would even lock me up in my room sometimes and not let me eat.
I had tons of bruises all the time.

That said, I'm not asking for pity.
I'm saying that I have been through it, and I know what it's like.
I now live with my grandparents and have a very happy life.
I hate it when kids my age say that they're abused when they're smacked lightly, a hard slap in the mouth is wrong, or spanked.
I think that hitting shouldn't be necessary, but you you have to do it, you have to do it.
I just don't like to see people being treated like I was when I was younger.

No smacking, hitting, belting, or yard-stick...ing. Those are what make kids FEAR their parents.
