New Nintendo Console

We might have a new console from Nintendo soon. Nintendo announced that it will show its next console next May at E3. They are hopeful to get the console out in Japan before the end of the fiscal year (Which means by March 2005, but hopefully they can get it out by the end of 2004). And the thing the most people are talking about right now is that they want to release it across the globe simultaneously. I guess Nintendo really wants to get its console out first.

Keep it until 2005 thanks Nintendo, the GC is holding it's own already, I don't want to have to pay MORE money for a rushed out console that will probably only be marginally superior. (Powerwise)

You'd think so, but the GameCube can't be saved. And really, there's no difference between the GameCube and 2005 than there was between the N64 (1996) and the GameCube (2001). They're both 5 years apart.

Gold Jinjo is right, even with the price drop, there isn't much left the GameCube can do to get back in the running. But Nintendo is the first one to make an official announcement about a new console, so hopefully they can get it out before Sony and Microsoft, and they can have the same advantage the PS2 did.

I read on IGN that after the price drop, GameCube sales more than doubled... in fact, they've apparently out-sold the Xbox.

That was only for the first week it was out though. It will probably slow down within the next couple months

Actually, GameCube sales are still increasing... especially now that the holiday season is coming up. The GameCube may be forever crap, but don't underestimate the effects of that price drop

Well, in any case, that article says Nintendo will be releasing some sort of unique hardware that hasn't been seen before. IGN thinks it'll be some sort of peripheral... but it could be anything. We just know it's hardware, and I think that's what their Spring announcement is gonna be all about.

Damn, we just have to wait 6 more months

It sounds pretty good. Going where gaming has never gone before? I just hope the don't give it a crappy name like Gamecube 2 or something. I think Sony having a Playstation 2 and 3 is stupid, they need to think of better names. Same with Microsoft's XBox
