How do you get your music?

I use a combination of two things.

1) I use Google. You wouldn't believe how many people have open directories filled with MP3s. By "open directory" I mean something like this. A directory on the web without an index.html file to block out the content listing.

With some clever Google-ing, it's easy to find what you want. And 100% discreet

2) If I'm too lazy, can't find what I want using the above method, think a certain song deserves it, or suddenly gain morals... I purchase through iTunes. I love iTunes. You don't even need a credit card. Wal-Mart sells pre-paid cards you can redeem at the iTunes Music Store.

It's a really fun program... and as such, has helped me ween myself off of the first method

I usually use google as well actually, "song_title.mp3 download" usually works relatively well.

Not to mention ytmnd, firefox can download the tunes used on them.

Then of course there's torrenting, P2Ps and the like, but since the majority of my sounds are from Overclocked/VGmix I can frequently just get what I need from their homepages...free and legal (very rare these days ).

...And ytmnd, OCRemix, and Google. I win!

I'll also buy a CD...But that was only for Meat Loaf.

Easy Free Music...perhaps this is illegal, but whose above is? I usually just check out the CD's I want from the library, and then burn them to my computer. It's really easy, and very safe. Even though they might say they do, most small [and big] libraries have no way of knowing if their CD has been burned, and even if they did, they would NEVER [we librarians are lazy folk] take the time to check.

Libraries.

Call me old-fashioned, but I'm a CD buyer through and through. I'll occasionally use iTunes for individual songs, but for me there's nothing better than having a bona fide copy of the CD sitting in my collection.

Sometimes, I just google some good sites with a directory of mp3s on hand for my enjoyment. But sometimes I DO buy CDs. Not much though, seeing how I can't really afford them very often, but hey... these interwebs come in handy. <3

For the odd track that I can't find anywhere else, I often use the "parent directory" -shtml -php <artist> mp3 search on Google.

If that fails, there's always allofmp3.com
