The Rare Witch Project April Fools' Day 2009 prank was orchestrated by the Rare Witch Project staff members.

April Fools' Day 2009 began with the staff shutting the forums down early in the day, promising to "BBS" (Be Back Soon). When the forums were re-opened, every regular member appeared to be promoted to moderator status, with some even having been "promoted" to administrators, while the staff members themselves appeared to be demoted to regular member status.
Members were given access to a fake sub-board in the Rare Witch Lair called Staff Members Only, and within a day it was spammed with many pages of threads.
It was soon discovered that a small select group of people actually did get the powers of Moderators, this including the ability to edit other people's posts, and locking and delete topics. However, this only affected them in the "Staff Members Only" board. This caused many people to have their posts edited by others.
That small select group that had received privileges was changed and updated several times throughout the day, adding and removing the moderation privileges to and from people.
Later in the day, the real administrators were given a "Sexy" prefix appended to their forum names and a pink coloration on their names, and the real moderators were given a "Super Dull" prefix appended to their forum names.
Even later, several forum members found out that if they had these privileges of a moderator or administrator, they could access the moderation control panel from the forums.
In this moderation control panel there was only one thing that could be done, adding and removing awards from users. This function got used several times by several members throughout the day, including by IbanezerIceFAIL (Pez).
IbanezerIceFAIL however abused this system by giving himself not only all available awards he could get, but also removing the Awesome Default Award from everyone that had obtained it other than him.
Topping that, he even removed all of Grey Jinjo's previously received awards. This in the end led up to a temporary suspension for IbanezerIceFAIL.
Only short after this event, the Staff changed everyone's status back to normal and closed the fake Staff board.

Ice Mario also posted a news article on the Rare Witch Project main site stating that Rare had announced a new game: Banjo-Kazooie Scrabble for the Xbox Live Arcade. Of course, after April Fools' Day passed, Ice Mario updated the post, stating that it was a joke.
