Trolley Surfing
Trolley Surfing (so named by the development team)[1] is an exploit which takes advantage of the physics engine and allows players to levitate, commonly using the Showdown Town Trolley; however, it can be done using any nearly any manipulatable objects.
The most common way of performing the glitch is to take an object in Showdown Town, typically a crate, and place it inside the Trolley. The player then jumps on top of the crate and uses the wrench to select and then pick up the Trolley, which causes it to levitate in the air. This allows players to reach areas of the town that they have not yet unlocked, get to the top of the Lord of Games' tower in seconds, and so on.
Vehicle Part Duplication
NOTE: This glitch was fixed in the March 31, 2009 title update for the game, and is thus now impossible for those with the update. However, it remains cataloged here.
It is possible to duplicate vehicle parts in the Workshop in Mumbo's Motors by selecting a part, putting the cursor over the area where the part would go, and pressing the X and then A buttons in quick succession. This places down the part without subtracting from the player's total number of that part. This even allows the player to place multiple driver's seats on one vehicle.
However, vehicles with duplicated parts can only be used in the Test-O-Track; they will not work elsewhere.
Semi-Invisible Geometry
In Showdown Town's Uptown area, on top of the roof of the building containing the entrance to Act 1 of Terrarium of Terror, there is an invisible piece of geometry that can be picked up with the wrench. However, when it is viewed at certain close-up angles, (easiest using the in-game snapshot camera) this geometry becomes visible and appears to be a brown triangular prism.
Clanker's Eyes Crash
During the Spring Break! challenge in Banjoland, it is possible to force the game to crash by leaving the kickball area, going to the exhibit featuring Clanker, and attacking his eyes. The Xbox 360 then displays a disc read error and returns to the Dashboard menu.
WARNING: Since Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts utilizes auto-saving and this glitch forces a crash, this glitch could lead to a corrupted game save if caution is not exercised.
Out of Map
It is possible to get outside the map in any area where a custom vehicle can be used. First, make a vehicle with a Grenade Turret. Make sure the turret is not attached to anything, then leave Mumbo's Motors. Pick up the Grenade Turret, turn it upside down, and then drop it. Get inside it, turn the turret's gun all the way up and then turn until Banjo's head begins going through the ground. When it is far enough through, jump out and Banjo will fall through the ground. In most areas, it is necessary to immediately summon a flying vehicle after falling through the ground, as falling to far will simply make the game respawn Banjo inside the map. However, some areas, like Terrarium of Terror, have collision detection on areas outside the map.
There is also a way to do this in Showdown Town. Go to the top of the mountain containing L.O.G.'s tower, and then go to a side railing of the slope that leads to Town Square. Keep pushing against the railing and using the Wrench Whirl until Banjo falls through the mountain and into the water below. This glitch was discovered and exploited shortly after the release of the demo as a means of exploring areas of Showdown Town that were otherwise blocked off.
