Biography
Carl and Quentin are two split personalities who inhabit one body, that of a silver cog (gold in Conker: Live & Reloaded). They switch to one personality depending on which way they are turned. When one side is turned up, the other side's eyes close in a way that make them look like crossed arms.
Carl is brash, angry and sexually-frustrated, and is constantly telling people to "f*** off"; he is also apparently deaf. He hates being turned over so that Quentin's side is dominant and he always has a cigar in his mouth.
Quentin is the antithesis of Carl, being far more well-mannered, and is implied to be homosexual (due to his mannerisms, calling Conker handsome and enjoyment of being attached to Mr. Big Cog). Quentin doesn't seem to mind his other self, except when he gets particularly mad, in which case he describes his life as a misery. Quentin always has a cigarette in a holder in his mouth.
In the Games
Conker's Bad Fur Day
In Conker's Bad Fur Day and its remake, Conker: Live & Reloaded, Conker meets Carl in Bat's Tower, hanging on the wall next to three empty pegs and Mr. Big Cog. Carl demands that Conker find his missing female cogs, shouting and swearing at him. Eventually, Conker figures out that there is another side to Carl and turns him over, much to his chagrin. Quentin, Carl's nicer side, more politely asks Conker to find Carl's "friends," as Carl is making his life miserable, and Conker agrees to help.
To find the three cogs, the player must first climb to the top of Bat's Tower, where there is a lever and a Fajo wad of cash. Pulling the lever will open up a gate in the underwater area of the tower down below, where the female cogs are hiding.
After finding them and attaching them to the pegs, the player must make Conker turn the wheel on the ground, which will turn all five of the cogs. It eventually goes so fast that Carl is forced off the wall, and the female cogs get revenge on him by attaching him to Mr. Big Cog and leave the tower for good. Quentin also reveals that the bulldog-fish, Brute, has been "taken care of," as his chains have been tightened so that he can't move very far.

off!
- CARL: Oh not, not Mr. Big Cog! That's me buggered!
