Chuffy is a major object and character in the Banjo-Kazooie series.
Description
Chuffy is a large steam train owned by Old King Coal. While it does not speak for itself (King Coal speaks for it), it is referred to like a character.
In the Games
Banjo-Tooie
In Banjo-Tooie, Chuffy plays a major role in transportation. First appearing in Glitter Gulch Mine, broken down, it must be revived by Mumbo Jumbo. When Banjo and Kazooie enter it and try to use it, King Coal taunts them and brings them into his boiler, where he must be fought. After he is beaten, he surrenders a Jiggy and control of Chuffy to the duo.
Most levels after Glitter Gulch Mine feature a train station, which Chuffy uses to move between (there is also one in the Cliff Top section of the Isle o' Hags, and one each on the Fire and Icy sides of Hailfire Peaks). Chuffy plays an essential role in many of the games tasks.
In Witchyworld, after rescuing Scrut from the Cave of Horrors, bringing Chuffy in will make her run into the train, at which point it is necessary to use it to bring her back to her home in Terrydactyland.
In Terrydactyland, Banjo must use the Taxi Pack to carry Scrat onto the train. He and Kazooie must then bring Chuffy to the Train Station in the Isle o' Hags Cliff Top. There, they must get Mumbo to use a healing spell on the sickly dinosaur. After doing this, they must bring him back to his family in Terrydactyland.
In Grunty Industries, Chuffy is necessary to enter the factory. Banjo and Kazooie must stand on the Train Station Switch located in the grounds, go to an earlier train station, and then enter the factory through its station.
In Hailfire Peaks, Chuffy is necessary for a Jiggy located in the Icy Side's Train Station. When Banjo and Kazooie attempt to enter the Icy Side Train Station after standing on its switch, King Coal reveals that the boiler is too hot and must be cooled down before entering the Icy Side, else it will explode. Banjo and Kazooie then use Gobi who, after being rescued in Witchyworld, conveniently sits on a platform just above the train. They Beak Bust him and he releases the last of his water into Chuffy's boiler, allowing it to enter the train station so that Banjo and Kazooie can get the Jiggy within.
