Biography

Conker the Squirrel (born 1996, according to Live & Reloaded) is a red squirrel. In his earlier appearances, he appears to be a very kindly, if hyperactive young squirrel.

In his more recent appearances, however, he appears as an adult squirrel who enjoys hanging out at The Cock and Plucker pub and getting drunk. Conker's girlfriend is Berri, a chipmunk. Conker is usually polite, even when surrounded by foul-mouthed characters; although he can be very crass and sarcastic when pushed far enough.

Conker is apparently the last of the red squirrels.

Conker's typical apparel includes a blue vest, blue and yellow sneakers, and white gloves. In Live & Reloaded, he wears a blue vest, blue and yellow sneakers, green shorts, and no gloves.

In the Games

Diddy Kong Racing

In Diddy Kong Racing, Conker makes his first appearance. According to the game's story, Conker has joined the quest to save Timber's Island from the evil Wizpig after Timber sends him a letter requesting his help.

Conker is a playable racer in the game. He is a "light"-heavyweight and has high top speed, average acceleration, and average handling. Conker's appearance in this game was mainly done as a way to introduce the character before his first appearance in his own game; a similar situation to Banjo, who also made his first appearance in this game.

Interestingly, neither Conker nor Banjo was included in DKR's remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS; likely due to Microsoft holding ownership of the characters.

Conker's Pocket Tales

In Conker's Pocket Tales, Conker makes his first starring appearance. In this game, Berri throws a surprise birthday party for Conker, which ends disastrously when the Evil Acorn pops out of the cake Berri made for made for Conker, kidnaps her and steals Conker's presents. Conker then sets out to rescue his girlfriend and defeat the Evil Acorn.

Conker's Bad Fur Day

In Conker's Bad Fur Day and its remake, Conker: Live & Reloaded, the game begins with Conker hanging at The Cock and Plucker, calling Berri at home to tell him he will be late getting home. He soon ends up walking out of the bar drunkenly, and walking the wrong way home, ending up at Windy. He wakes up, hungover, and sets off to find his way home after noting that, "it's gonna be one of those days..."

In the game, Conker can make use of "Context-Sensitive Zones," large "B"-button pads which allow Conker to perform varying actions, such as shooting a slingshot or putting on a mining helmet.

Banjo-Kazooie (Cameo)

In the Xbox Live Arcade version of Banjo-Kazooie, a picture of Bad Fur Day-style Conker appears in the walls of the sailor's barracks. As a note, in the original version, it was a picture of Pocket Tales-style Berri.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (Cameo)

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, pictures of Conker, dressed in his Squirrel High Command uniform, can be seen on newspapers in Showdown Town.

Other

In the unreleased Twelve Tales: Conker 64, Conker would have set out on a quest with Berri to recapture stolen presents from evil thieves. The game would have allowed the player to choose between playing as Conker or playing as Berri. Conker's game would have been more action and platform-oriented, whereas Berri's would have been more strategic. Conker, as he was to appear in this game, was very similar to his appearance in Pocket Tales: young, kindly and energetic; a drastic difference from his appearance in the finally-released Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Conker was also going to appear in the cancelled sequel, Conker's Other Bad Day or Conker 2: Getting Medieval where he was going to seek out the death of Berri.

Quotes

From Conker's Bad Fur Day

  • "So...there I am. King. King of all the land...and who'd have thought that. Huh, not me. I guess you know who these guys are now, because I certainly do. I don't wanna know them. And yep, I may be king. I have all the money in the world...and all the land...and all that stuff. But you know? I don't...really think I want it. I just wanna go home. With Berri. And...I dunno, have a bottle of beer. Hmm. {sighs} It's not gonna happen. It's true what they say. 'The grass is always greener...' and, 'you don't really know what it is you have... until it's gone'...gone. Gone."
