DK Coins (also called Cranky's Video Game Hero Coins or just Hero Coins) are items in the Donkey Kong series. They are large golden coins with a "DK" emblem in the center.

In the Games
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, there is one DK Coin hidden in each level. They improve Diddy Kong's ranking as a video game hero in Cranky's eyes. In the Lost World levels, they are they reward for completing a Bonus Room. There are 40 DK Coins in this game.
Donkey Kong Land 2
In Donkey Kong Land 2, DK Coins work much the same as in Donkey Kong Country 2. There is one DK Coin hidden in each level, and again they improve Diddy's ranking as a video game hero. In the Lost World levels, they are they reward for completing a Bonus Room. There are 40 DK Coins in this game.
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, DK Coins are held by Koin enemies in each level. Getting the DK Coin requires the player to throw a Steel Keg properly, usually bouncing off a wall, to get it to slam into a side of the Koin that is not protected by his shield. Collecting all 41 DK Coins in this game gives Dixie and Kiddy access to the final five Banana Bird caves.
Donkey Kong Land III
In Donkey Kong Land III, DK Coins are collected in much the same way as in Donkey Kong Country 3. A Koin is in almost every level and must be defeated with a Steel Keg from behind. The only levels not featuring a Koin are fully underwater levels, in which the DK Coin is simply hidden on its own somewhere in the level. Some DK Coins are also earned from playing the card-matching game in Bear's Sheepy Shop in each world. There are 42 DK Coins in this game.
