Biography

Diddy Kong is a young monkey. He wears a red shirt with yellow stars on it and a red "Nintendo" cap. His eye color varies, but is usually blue, brown, or grey. While he may be small, he is very fast, and can usually put up a fight pretty well. His signature move is the cartwheel.

In the Games

Donkey Kong Country

In Donkey Kong Country, he appeared as Donkey Kong's partner. According to the game's story, Donkey Kong left him in charge of the Banana Horde one night as part of his "hero training." That night, King K. Rool and his Kremling Krew stormed the horde, stealing all the bananas and stuffing Diddy inside a barrel. When DK awoke the next morning, he found the bananas gone and Diddy kidnapped and set off to get them back (possibly explaining why Diddy is first found in a DK Barrel). This game introduced Diddy's tradmark move, the cartwheel, which works similar to DK's roll attack. When holding barrels, Diddy holds them in front of him as a shield. He is not as physically strong as DK, but is much faster, which can provide an advantage in certain cases.

Donkey Kong Land

In Donkey Kong Land, the Game Boy semi-sequel to Donkey Kong Country, Diddy appears again, in the same role he played in DKC.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Diddy appears as the main character. This game introduced Diddy's girlfriend, Dixie Kong. The game's plot is that while lazing around on the beach, Donkey Kong was kidnapped by Kaptain K. Rool, demanding the Banana Horde in exchange for his return. Diddy and Dixie then set out to rescue him, with the rest of the Kong family helping in various ways. Diddy remains mostly unchanged for this installment, although a new feature is that he can now do team moves with Dixie when the "A" button is pressed.

Donkey Kong Land 2

In Donkey Kong Land 2, the Game Boy semi-sequel to Donkey Kong Country 2, Diddy appears again in the same role as Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! is the first game in which Diddy is not playable, however he does play a part in the story. While out exploring, DK and Diddy mysteriously disappear (having been kidnapped by Baron K. Rool, the Kremling king's newest alter-ego), and Dixie and Kiddy go to find them.

Diddy Kong Racing

Diddy Kong Racing is the first game where Diddy appears without any other Kongs (although a Kremling, Krunch, appears in the game). According to the story, Diddy receives a message from Timber saying that his island is under attack by the evil Wizpig, and he pleads for Diddy's help. Diddy then rushes off to Timber's Island to help.

Donkey Kong 64

In Donkey Kong 64, Diddy appears as one of five playable Kongs, and one of the four kidnapped by King K. Rool. He is rescued in the very first level of the game, Jungle Japes.
