The Diddy Kong Racing Soundtrack CD (or, on the side of the jewel case insert, Diddy Kong Racing Game Soundtrack) was released in 1997 on Compact Disc. In North America, the soundtrack CD was only available to subscribers of Nintendo Power - Nintendo's official magazine - via its Power Supplies supplement. The North American version of the soundtrack features 16 songs, only a fraction of the songs in the game.

There was also a Japanese soundtrack release, the Diddy Kong Racing Original Soundtrack. The Japanese version of the soundtrack features 42 songs, which is most of the music in the game. The reason for the NA version of the soundtrack featuring fewer songs is that the CD is in the shape of Diddy's head. This also causes playability issues in certain audio players.

The music on this soundtrack was composed by David Wise and Graeme Norgate (uncredited).
