Donkey Kong 64 Official Soundtrack
From RWP Wiki
The Donkey Kong 64 Official Soundtrack was released in 1999 on Compact Disc. The soundtrack CD was only available to subscribers of Nintendo Power - Nintendo's official magazine - via its Power Supplies supplement. It features 18 songs, which is a small fraction of the songs found in the game. There are no extra, unlisted songs on the CD. The tracklist has several errors and oddities:
- "DK Island" should be "DK Isles," "Klanky" should be "Cranky," "Shipwreck" should be "Gloomy Galleon," and "Spooky" should be "Creepy Castle."
- Nearly all of the song lengths given in the tracklist are off by two seconds - they do not appear to account for the two seconds of silence at the end of almost every track. The only exception is track 18.
- Many of the track names contain shortened or alternate names of areas in the game.
- The soundtrack CD version of Crystal Caves is slightly different than the in-game version, featuring a slap-sounding instrument in place of the pan flute for the melody played near the end of the song.
The music on this soundtrack was composed by Grant Kirkhope.
An alternate version of this soundtrack exists called Da Banana Bunch: The Original Donkey Kong 64 Soundtrack; this version gives the tracks actual titles and also features some additional remixed tracks. It also features a slightly different selection of in-game tracks.
