Extra Lives are a common system in video games, especially platformers, which give the player's character another "life" after they die, thus giving the player an extra chance to complete the game.
Extra Lives appear in many Rare games, often represented by different items that relate to the main character(s) in some way. Examples are listed below.
- Extra Life Balloon in the Donkey Kong series, a balloon in the shape of a Kong's head.
- Extra Life in the Banjo-Kazooie series, a golden statuette of Banjo that gives him an extra life.
- Squirrels' Tail in the Conker series, a large red squirrel tail, like Conker's own.
