Biography
Funky Kong is a male gorilla, commonly wearing a t-shirt, shorts and sunglasses, who acts like a "surfer dude". However, Funky is also quite mechanically adept, being able to build planes, boats, helicopters, and guns. Funky has also enlisted in the military, allowing him to put his engineering skills to work.
In the Games
Donkey Kong Country
In Donkey Kong Country, Funky Kong appears in his shop, Funky's Flights. From here, Donkey and Diddy Kong can use one of Funky's barrel planes to fly to worlds which they have previously been to. This is useful if the player has completed a world, but has not found all the hidden Bonus Rooms in that world.
In the Game Boy Color port and Game Boy Advance port of Donkey Kong Country, Funky also runs a fishing minigame entitled Funky's Fishing.
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Funky Kong again runs a travel service, this time called Funky's Flights II. As before, this service can be used by Diddy and Dixie Kong to fly to worlds which they have previously been to. However, this time it works slightly differently: the first use of the service is free of charge, but for every use after that, Diddy and Dixie are required to pay Funky two Banana Coins.
Donkey Kong Land 2
In Donkey Kong Land 2, Funky Kong appears in Funky's Flights II, which works exactly as before: it can be used by Diddy and Dixie to fly to worlds which they have previously been to, for a price.
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Funky Kong runs Funky's Rentals in the Northern Kremisphere hub world. When Dixie first enters his shop, he tells her to take Kiddy Kong along with her in her search for Donkey and Diddy, and gives her a motor boatt to aid her. Upon later visits, after finding certain items, Funky will make other vehicles for her to use, including a hovercraft, which allows them to go over rocks in the water; a turbo ski, which can drive up waterfalls, and finally a gyrocopter, which can go anywhere on the map.
Donkey Kong 64
In Donkey Kong 64, Funky, dressed in army garb, runs Funky's Armory, where Donkey, Diddy, Tiny, Lanky, and Chunky Kong can buy fruit guns and ammunition. The first Armory is found in Jungle Japes, the game's first world.
At the end of the game, after Chunky delivers the final blow to King K. Rool during the Kongs' boxing match against him, Candy Kong distracts K. Rool while Funky blasts him with a rocket launcher.
