Biography
Gobi is a camel who lives in Gobi's Valley. He is notable for having a running joke in the series involving Banjo and Kazooie constantly slamming into his hump to get something out of him (usually water), much to his chagrin.
In the Games
Banjo-Kazooie
In Banjo-Kazooie, Gobi first appears in his home of Gobi's Valley. At first he is tied to a rock on an isolated piece of land. The player can free him from his imprisonment by having Banjo and Kazooie Beak Buster the rock that he is tied to. He then runs off to the oasis near the beginning of the level, in front of Trunker the thirsty tree. Gobi notes that Trunker looks dehydrated, but greedily decides to keep his water for himself. The player must then Beak Buster him, causing him to spit out water into Trunker's mouth, hydrating the tree and earning Banjo and Kazooie a Jiggy. Gobi becomes annoyed and hides at the nook of the valley containing the door that leads to the Blue Stop 'n' Swop Egg room. Beak Busting him yet again earns an Empty Honeycomb Piece from him. After this, Gobi runs off once again to escape Banjo and Kazooie.
He later appears in the game's final level, Click Clock Wood, near the large plant in the level. When he spots Banjo and Kazooie, he says "Oh, no...not you two again!" It is necessary to Beak Buster him once more in order to water the large plant. Gobi then runs away one final time, stating that he's going to the "lava world," where Banjo and Kazooie will "never find him."
Banjo-Tooie
In Banjo-Tooie, he first appears in Witchyworld, trapped in the Cave of Horrors. He explains to Banjo and Kazooie he was kidnapped on his way to the lava world and has been in the Cave of Horrors ever since (his time in there has seemingly caused him to grow a large unkempt beard, although if talked to first time under certain conditions, he will reveal the beard as a fake; most likely for the freak show). He pleads to be let him out of his cage, which can be accomplished by blasting his cage door with a Grenade Egg. He then heads off to finally reach the lava world, which turns out to be the Fire Side of Hailfire Peaks.
In Hailfire Peaks, Gobi appears in the Train Station of the Fire Side. After bringing Chuffy there, it is necessary to Beak Buster Gobi one last time, causing him to spit water into the train, cooling its boiler and allowing it to enter the Icy Side Train Station without trouble.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (Cameo)
In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Gobi does not appear in person. However, there is a LOG's Choice vehicle in Banjoland resembling him called the L.O.G. Gobimobile.
