GoldenEye 007 was one of the famous first person shooters for the Nintendo 64. Known for it's graphics, multiplayer madness, and hidden mysteries, GoldenEye 007 is considered one of the best shooters of all time. You play as 007 himself (portrayed by Pierce Brosnan) as you go through levels very similar to the actual GoldenEye movie. This movie remake has everything from the tanks, the bungee jumping, to the betrayal and all down to the final showdown at the Cradle.

Warning: The following article or section contains spoilers. Plot or ending details may follow

  • James Bond
Licensed to Kill, Agent 007 is on yet another mission to save the world.
  • Alec Trevelyan
Once an agent on Her Majesty's Secret Service, Agent 006 fakes his own death and forms the Janus crime syndicate in a plan to electronically steal millions of pounds from the London banks and then erase any trace of the transaction by generating an electromagnetic pulse over London with the GoldenEye satellite, destroying anything with an electronic circuit.
  • Natalya Fyodorovna Semyonova
A level 2 programmer at the Severynaya Bunker, she finds herself in a mess when all her co-workers are killed when Xenia Onatopp and then-Admiral Ourumov arrive at the bunker to steal GoldenEye. They fire 'Petya', the first of the two GoldenEye satellites, over Severnaya, destroying everything and sending the satellite dish crashing into the ground. The dish penetrates through the bunker's ceiling, which Natalya uses to climb out to safety.
  • Xenia Onatopp
A deadly assassin and Alec Trevelyan's henchwoman.
  • General Arkady Grigorovich Ourumov
A corrupt General who betrayed his government. Not much is known about his agreements with Alec Trevelyan, but was basically used as a pawn and was never likely to be kept alive after Alec's plan succeeded.
  • Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky
An ex-KGB agent with an unpleasant previous history with Bond. After Bond makes the playing field even with Valentin by supplying him information, Valentin helps Bond by setting him up with 'Janus'.
  • Boris Grishenko
The only other survivor of the GoldenEye blast on Severnaya, and the only known survivor by Ourumov, Boris is an expert computer programmer who was taken by Ourumov and used to operate the GoldenEye satellite. He was likely bribed as he became somewhat of a henchman.
  • Dmitri Mishkin
A Russian Minister of Defense. He suspected Bond and MI6 as being responsible for the devestation at Severnaya, but Natalya revealed that Ourumov was indeed the traitor who was responsible.

End of spoilers.

Missions

File:GE Dam.jpg Mission 1: Arkangelsk, Part I: Byelomorye Dam
MI6 has confirmed the existence of a secret chemical warfare facility at the Byelomorye dam, USSR. Its heavily guarded location and workings are a cause for major concern. Nerve gas produced there has been turning up in the hands of hostile regimes around the world and deals with international terrorists have been rumored. This facility should be destroyed with extreme prejudice.
File:GE Facility.jpg Mission 1: Arkangelsk, Part II: Chemical Warfare Facility
Inside the chemical weapons facility you should quickly and efficiently proceed to the bottling area and place demolition charges on the main gas tanks. Political considerations demand that collateral damage in minimized on this mission. Non military personnel should be disregarded.
File:GE Runway.jpg Mission 1: Arkangelsk, Part III: Chemical Warfare Facility Runway
A service Runway is the obvious escape route from the Arkangelsk chemical weapons facility.
File:GE Surface.jpg Mission 2: Severnaya, Part I: Severnaya Installation, Siberian Plateau
A spy satellite has detected increased levels of activity at an old observatory complex near Severnaya (62.08n, 102.58e) in Russia.
File:GE Bunker.jpg Mission 2: Severnaya, Part II: Satellite Control Bunker
A spy satellite has detected increased levels of activity at an old observatory complex near Severnaya (62.08n, 102.58e) in Russia. Other sources have confirmed the shipment of a large amount of computer hardware to that location, and an influx of skilled personnel.
File:GE Silo.jpg Mission 3: Kirghizstan, Part I: Silo
MI6 has become concerned that unscheduled test firings from a missile silo in Kirghizstan are being used to cover the launch of Goldeneye weapons satellites. Deep intelligence reports suggest that this operation may well be outside the control of the former Soviet powers in the region.
File:GE Frigate.jpg Mission 4: Monte Carlo, Part I: Frigate 'La Fayette'
A demonstration of the Pirate stealth helicopter by the French military has been unexpectedly postponed. Official channels insist that nothing is wrong but unofficially MI6 has been asked to help salvage a very tricky hostage situation on board the frigate La Fayette. It seems that the Janus crime syndicate will stop at nothing in its attempt to hijack the helicopter.
File:GE Surface2.jpg Mission 5: Severnaya, Part I: Severnaya Installation, Siberian Plateau
The Pirate helicopter was tracked to Severnaya, where a Keyhole-1 ELINT satellite recorded a brief firefight. After the Pirate left, the same satellite observed a troop helicopter being made ready at a Spetznaz camp, 200 miles due south. The only way that we can get you there quickly is to drop you from a spy plane, and the Soviet Special Forces will be there before you.
File:GE Bunker2.jpg Mission 5: Severnaya, Part II: Satellite Control Bunker 2
Escape is the first priority. Find the staff and casualty lists, and the CCTV tape of your capture. If there are any witnesses, try and bring them out as well.
File:GE Statue.jpg Mission 6: St. Petersburg, Part I: Statue Park
Following the Severnaya incident, MI6 has lost track of the Pirate helicopter. Presumably, the bugging device has been located and destroyed. Natalya Simonova, who returned to St. Petersburg against our advice, has gone missing. We can only assume that she has been abducted by the Janus Syndicate in a belated attempt to cover their tracks.
File:GE Archives.jpg Mission 6: St. Petersburg, Part II: Military Intelligence Archives
Captured by the Russians, Bond must escape their military prison.
File:GE Streets.jpg Mission 6: St. Petersburg, Part III: St. Petersburg Streets
After escaping KGB interrogation at the military archives, Natalya has been recaptured by General Ourumov. She is being taken by car to the Janus operations base in St. Petersburg.
File:GE Depot.jpg Mission 6: St. Petersburg, Part IV: Disused Military Depot
The Janus operations base in St. Petersburg is located in a disused military rail depot. From here the crime syndicate coordinated illegal arms deals, international terrorism and extortion.
File:GE Train.jpg Mission 6: St. Petersburg, Part V: Converted Missile Train
The leader of Janus, Alec Trevelyan, is holding Natalya hostage on his armored train.
File:GE Jungle.jpg Mission 7: Cuba, Part I: Cuban Jungle
Satellite reconnaissance has been unable to locate any installation near the coordinates recovered from the Janus computers in St. Petersburg. It seems likely that a ground search will be necessary. The CIA has provided you with a light aircraft. Underfly Janus radar and parachute in to the drop, proceed through the jungle by eliminating any opposition and attempt to locate the Janus base.
File:GE Control.jpg Mission 7: Cuba, Part II: Janus Control Center
The Janus Control Center has been located in an underground complex in the Cuban jungle.
File:GE Caverns.jpg Mission 7: Cuba, Part III: Subterranean Caverns
The Janus Control Center communicates with the Goldeneye weapons system via a large satellite dish which is usually concealed underwater. The pumps which allow Janus to flood the communications dish are housed in a subterranean cave complex defended by crack Janus troops.
File:GE Cradle.jpg Mission 7: Cuba, Part IV: Antenna Cradle, Janus Base
Janus control communications have been jammed and the Goldeneye satellite orbit is decaying. Only Trevelyan and his personal bodyguard remain unaccounted for.

Bonus Missions

  • Egyptian: Complete the game in the 00 Agent mode of difficulty.

The Drax corporation continues to be involved in unlicensed space exploration. Many of their projects are of a military nature and constitute a threat to the new world political order.
File:GE Egyptian.jpg Mission 9: el-Saghira, Part I: Egyptian Temple
Scaramanga has passed into legend as the deadliest assassin of all time. The current whereabouts of his golden gun are unknown.

Beta Version

The beta version is the test version. The significance of this test version to us it the unreleased goodies. For comprehensive articles concering the beta GoldenEye, visit GoldenEye.Detstar and GoldenEye Beta.

GoldenEye Face Mapper And Tex Editor

On March 21, 2004, Ice Mario announced the creation of a Face Mapping utility for GoldenEye. This would allow a player to add their own face texture, replacing one that was already in the game. This was a feature that Rare had promised for Perfect Dark, but it never made it into the final product. On June 4, 2004 SubDrag announced a similar utility for Perfect Dark, giving players that much-desired feature.

On December 11, 2004, SubDrag announced that both he and Ice Mario had finally cracked the compression methods used in GoldenEye. This would allow players to replace up to 1,473 textures in the game with one of their own. On January 19, 2005, it was now finally possible to replace all the textures in GoldenEye, and to complement this success with the GoldenEye ROM Editor, the Perfect Dark ROM Editor was released.

The GoldenEye ROM Editor also provided some closure concerning the All Bonds feature in GoldenEye. In the beta version of the game, Rare had planned on allowing all the actors who portrayed Bond to be playable in multiplayer. This feature was scrapped due to possible copyright issues. Rare stated that all traces of the All Bonds feature had been removed from the final version of the game, however the tuxedo and face textures were still found in the programing. With the ROM Editor, it was now possible to map the textures to existing multiplayer characters, finally giving players the ability to play as their favourite James Bond.

GoldenEye Level Editor

On June 18th 2005, a certain MrHTFord notified SubDrag that he had reverse engineered GoldenEye's compression code, and thusly managed to extract 3D models of the game's levels from its code. He was able to extract these models in such a ways so that standard 3D modeling software could open the format, and manipulate the wireframes. The ultimate aim of this project is to provide a way of extracting, manipulating, and substituting the game's models - so that the game could be editted in whatever way the user sees fit. The project has yet to be completed, and work seems to have temporarily ground to a halt on it - as it has yet to be discovered how to re-compress the models so that they can be inputted into the game's code.
