Biography

Humba Wumba is a Native American woman and a shaman. She, like Mumbo, has a tenuous grasp on the English language: she frequently refers to herself in the third person, speaks in object-subject-verb order, leaves out words, and tends to overuse the phrase "big heap." In an extreme example, the sentence "Humba Wumba is a great shaman" might become "Big heap good shaman Humba is."

In Banjo-Tooie she wears a yellow headband matching yellow dress, and a feather in her long hair. In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, she wears a yellow headband with a feather in her hair, a small plaid top, khaki shorts and cowboy boots. She appears to know Mumbo from some time back. Amusingly, she and Mumbo both believe themselves to be the best shamen around.

In the Games

Banjo-Tooie

In Banjo-Tooie, Humba Wumba takes over Mumbo's old role of transformation master. She appears in a Wigwam in the game's first eight worlds, as well as the Isle o' Hags, offering to turn Banjo and Kazooie into different animals or objects in exchange for a Glowbo. If the player finds a Glowbo and gives it to Humba Wumba, Banjo will throw it in a pool of purple liquid in the center of the floor, powering the pool with magic. Jumping into the pool will then transform the duo. Jumping back in after transforming will, of course, turn Banjo and Kazooie back to normal.

The transformations offered by Humba are:

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Humba appears in the town square of Showdown Town, in a small shop selling blueprints and vehicle parts. She also appears as an actor in the Nutty Acres, LOGBOX 720 and Terrarium of Terror game worlds and in the Test-O-Track during the L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges Downloadable Content.

In Nutty Acres, Humba Wumba plays the role of the wife of Mumbo Jumbo the farmer. She first appears in Act 2, in which she hosts the challenge "Great Balls of Fire". In this challenge, Humba Wumba tells Banjo and Kazooie that the volcano in Nutty Acres has dropped deadly gas-emitting fireballs all over the farm, and asks them to extinguish the fireballs with water. She next appears in Act 5, hosting the challenge "Old Dog, New Tricks". Once again, she needs Banjo and Kazooie's help to prevent a disaster: Mr. Patch has appeared in the farm and is blocking out the sun, threatening the coconuts. Finally, she appears in Act 6, hosting the challenge "Nuts to Go". In this challenge, she asks Banjo and Kazooie to take a batch of coconuts to Mumbo to make sure they're suitable for consumption, and then take them to the pier to be shipped off. She also appears in a minor role. She appears during Klungo's "Riverbed Head to Head" alongside Klungo, Bottles, Mumbo, Trophy Thomas, and Mr. Fit as a competitor in the riverbed race. She also appears in Bottles' "Air Coconut" challenge alongside the same group as a competitor in the plane race. She appears once more in Mr. Fit's "Makin' Waves" challenge alongside the same group as a competitor in the boat race.

In LOGBOX 720, Humba Wumba plays the role of a spunky girl gamer who is a member of the girls-only Hag Trolls gaming clan. She first appears in Act 1, in a minor role. During Pikelet's "Workers Wipe Out" challenge, Humba appears alongside Mumbo as one of the technicians that Pikelet asks Banjo and Kazooie to evacuate before the console's firewall activates. She next appears in Act 2, in which she hosts the challenge "Chips Away". In this challenge, Humba tells Banjo that she will let him play against her clan if she can beat a group of "amateurs" in a race (Klungo, Mumbo, and Pikelet). She appears again in Act 4, hosting the challenge "Red Bear Racing". In this challenge, she follows up on her promise by challenging Banjo to an aerial race around the LOGBOX console. She appears again in Act 5, hosting the challenge "Unstable Hardware". In this challenge, she asks for Banjo's help, as a problem with the console has occurred and caused the checkpoints in their time trial course to move upwards 100 pixels. She requests that Banjo take a racer modified with a long "neck" and complete the time trial so nobody notices the issue. Finally, she appears in Act 6, hosting the challenge "Lap Happy". In this challenge, she challenges Banjo to one last race: a few laps around the ground floor of the console against herself, Bottles and Jolly.

In Terrarium of Terror, Humba Wumba plays the role of a concerned ecologist who wants to preserve the environment of the terrarium. She first appears in Act 1, in which she hosts the challenge "Bear's Eye View". In this challenge, she asks Banjo to take a special eco-friendly vehicle high up into the terrarium so that he can scout the area and allow Humba's team plan their expedition. She next appears in Act 2, hosting the challenge "Intergalactic Binman". In this challenge, she requests Banjo's aid in disposing of some space junk that Grunty has littered the terrarium with before it damages the ecosystem. She also appears in a minor role. During Jolly's "Taxi of Terror" challenge she appears alongside Klungo, Captain Blubber, and Jolly as one of the researchers that needs to be taken to specific points in the terrarium. She also appears in Act 3 in a minor role. During Jolly's "Time for a Cuppa" challenge, she appears alongside Pikelet, Klungo, and Blubber as one of the hungry researchers that Banjo and Kazooie need to bring a snack to. Finally, she appears in Act 4, hosting the challenge "No-Armed Bandits". In this challenge, the terrarium is invaded by a group of Gruntbot space pirates (after the airlock was left open), and Humba asks Banjo to destroy them.

In the L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges DLC, Humba Wumba plays the role of a femme fatale. She hosts the challenge "Ben Hurdle". In this challenge, Humba has set up a gymkhana course for Banjo to complete as quickly as possible, without hitting any of the audience members scattered about. As with other challenges in the DLC, the player must complete the challenge once with a L.O.G.'s Choice vehicle and once with a vehicle of their own creation. Humba also appears in a minor role during Mumbo's "Big Rimmed Race Off" alongside Mumbo and Bottles as one of the competitors of Mumbo's monster truck race. She also appears in Bottles' "Glossy Gaffes" challenge alongside Jolly and Klungo as one of the people Banjo and Kazooie must bring paint cans too.
