Description
The Ice Key is a large, spinning key made of ice. It is one of the Stop 'n' Swop items and is, notably, the only one which is not a colored egg.
In the Games
Banjo-Kazooie
In Banjo-Kazooie, the Ice Key is first seen by most players in Wozza's cave in Freezeezy Peak. It is behind an ice wall on a nook that features an orange Jinjo. The fact that it can be seen at virtually any time after arriving at Freezeezy Peak is probably what lends itself to its recognizability. It is also one of the three items shown to Banjo and Kazooie by Mumbo Jumbo in the 100 Jiggy ending. The ice wall can be destroyed by typing in a code in the Sandcastle in Treasure Trove Cove, "CHEAT NOW YOU CAN SEE A NICE ICE KEY WHICH YOU CAN HAVE FOR FREE," which will allow the Ice Key to be collected. In Banjo-Kazooie XBLA, entering the code will cause the file currently in use to stop saving, disable Achievements and remove the player from the Leaderboards until the game is reset. Instead, the Ice Key will be available once the game detects a save file for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.
Banjo-Tooie
In Banjo-Tooie, the Ice Key appears again (though this one is generally speculated to be different due to its differing size and location). This time, it is found inside a Banjo-Kazooie Game Pak in Jinjo Village. Once Banjo learns the Grip Grab move, he can enter a small, icey cave in Jinjo Village, where the bouncing B-K game pak awaits. Upon busting it open, the ice key falls out, this time, a collectible with some real purpose. Once you gain access to an icy vault in Hailfire Peaks, (through the waterfall area of Glitter Gulch Mine) you can open it with the Ice Key, revealing a Mega Glowbo. Take it to Humba Wumba in the Pine Grove for a super-special transformation, which turns Kazooie into a dragon.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, there is an Ice Key imprint on top of Boggy's Gym in Showdown Town. When the Ice Key is collected in Banjo-Kazooie XBLA, a Stop 'n' Swop Crate appears on top of it, containing two Flag vehicle parts. Additionally, in the Banjoland game world, in the Freezeezy Peak area, the Ice Key can be seen behind an ice wall on the giant snowman, next to a fake Red Secret Egg and a "STOP 'N' SWOP" compact disc. Banjoland also features a picture of Banjo holding both the Ice Key and the Pink Secret Egg.
The Ice Key also appears as an item that must be collected for a Jinjo Fetch challenge in the Terrarium of Terror.
