Biography

Jolly is a tall, slim frog in nautical get-up. He lives in and is mayor of Jolly Roger's Lagoon. He is the owner and bartender of Jolly's, the local pub. It is strongly suggested that Jolly is gay. His mannerisms and voice are highly camp, as is his dancing. There are also implications made about the nature of his bar, such as a menu items such as 'Seaman's Surprise', and 'Grab-a-sailor night', mentioned by his partner, Merry Maggie Malpass.

In addition, Jolly's attire, speech and mannerisms in Nuts & Bolts would seem to further imply this, such as a line where he states that Banjo has not "satisfied [his] needs yet."

In the Games

Banjo-Tooie

In Banjo-Tooie, he offers Banjo and Kazooie a Jiggy for the safe return of his partner Merry Maggie, who had been swallowed by Glumbo the enormous fish after a nasty waveracer mishap. He also charges them two doubloons to rent a room in the pub (where the Sub-Aqua Egg Aiming move is found), however, the player can also get in the room by blasting it with a Grenade Egg, which angers Jolly.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

Jolly appears in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, now going by the name "Jolly Dodger" (a play on the Artful Dodger). He now wears tattered old pants and top hat, a pink belly shirt and a purple robe. He appears in Showdown Town selling "imported" (black market) Jiggies. He also appears as a guest actor in the LOGBOX 720 and Terrarium of Terror game worlds and in the Test-O-Track during the L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges Downloadable Content. At the end of the game, when Grunty has been defeated, he is seen painting Banjo's House a bright pink colour, another implication that he is gay (see Jolly's tavern).

In LOGBOX 720, Jolly plays the role of a celebrity software coder. He first appears in Act 4, in which he hosts the challenge "Chip Chop". In this challenge, Jolly asks Banjo to defend the console's graphics, audio and power chips from the Gruntbots that have been sent to attack them. Finally, he appears in Act 6, hosting the challenge "Bug Ridden". In this challenge, Jolly asks Banjo to gather up the bugs that are infesting the console and take them to a bug zapper, as they are making the code he has programmed look bad. He also appears in a minor role during Humba Wumba's "Lap Happy" challenge, appearing alongside Humba and Bottles as a challenger in the race.

In Terrarium of Terror, Jolly plays the role of a helper droid. He first appears in Act 2, in which he hosts the challenge "Taxi of Terror". In this challenge, he asks Banjo and Kazooie to drive himself, Humba, Klungo and Captain Blubber to specific points in the terrarium. Finally, he appears in Act 3, hosting the challenge "Time for a Cuppa". In this challenge, Jolly requests Banjo and Kazooie's aid in bringing snacks (cookies and tea) to Pikelet, Klungo, and Captain Blubber.

In the L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges DLC, Jolly plays the role of an undercover double-agent. He hosts the challenge "Car Park Cavalcade". In this challenge, King Jingaling is preparing a rare visit to the Test-O-Track, and Jolly asks Banjo to be in the parade, having him follow the path marked by a floating crown. He also appears in a minor role during Bottles' "Glossy Gaffes" challenge alongside Humba and Klungo as one of the people Banjo and Kazooie must bring paint cans to.

Banjo-Pilot

Jolly appears as an unlockable playable racer in Banjo-Pilot. His stats are as follows:
