K-O-N-G Letters

KONG Letters are collectible items in the Donkey Kong series.

Description

In the main Donkey Kong series, with the exception of Donkey Kong 64, the KONG Letters are four golden letters encased in squares that spell out the word "KONG". When all the letters have been collected individually, an extra life is awarded. Should a life be lost before the Continue Barrel is reached or destroyed, all of the KONG letters will be lost and not counted as collected. However, if the Continue Barrel is broken, the KONG Letters that the player has collected up to that point will be saved for next time the level is entered, giving the player another opportunity to collect the remainder of letters for another life.
