Biography
Originally from the lands of the Twycross[1], Kameo was taken to the Enchanted Kingdom by the five Elemental Sprites that escaped Thorn's Troll Lords. Kalus alerted her mother to the baby girl and sprites in the castle garden, and Theena, who had seen the Element of Power in the child's grasp, took it as a sign and adopted Kameo then and there, raising her as a child of Solon. As the sisters grew up together, Kameo began to outshine Kalus in every possible area from flying sports to popularity. [2] Kalus gradually developed a strong envy of her adopted sister which only fueled her desire to become the Queen of the 16th Age. Kameo's bestowal of the transformation magic, Warriors, and the kingdom prompted Kalus's betrayal, and sent Kameo on an arduous journey to save her family and put an end to her sister's treachery and Thorn's uprising.
History and Development
From beta footage and concept sketches, Kameo had much more personality than she does in the finished product. She still maintains the same level of confidence, but is more humble and subdued than her beta counterpart. In addition to raising the Elemental Sprites through feeding and mini-games, Kameo would team up with Meepo who would also aid her in battle. Some concept art and sketches depict Kameo as very feminine while others give her a more amazonian appearance. The designers ultimately settled on a more "sexy" appearance for the 360's audience.
In the Game
The player controls Kameo throughout the game and can transform into Elemental Warriors at will. Kameo isn't much of a threat by herself, only being capable of a flip kick and basic flight, which makes the Warriors all the more essential to her quest. Kameo can only use mounts and is the only character with a distinct jump outside of Major Ruin's Boulder Hop.
In the Manga
In the manga, Kameo is shown during her initial strike on Thorn's Castle. She later appears in flashbacks from when she was a young child, and an infant respectively. The flashbacks show her life growing up with Kalus as well as her rescue by King Solon as an infant. Kalus detests her adopted sister even at such an early age, and is deeply jealous of the "happy laughter" that surrounds Kameo. Kameo's age is different in both parts of the manga, with one listing her as fifteen and the other where she should be twelve or thirteen.
Relations with Other Characters
- Kalus: Kameo seems oblivious to Kalus's intense jealousy, and her sister's treachery seems to have no basis. Despite Kalus's betrayal of her family, Kameo only wishes to stop Kalus, but otherwise holds no ill will towards her. This is reflected when the two reconcile at the end of the game.
- Theena: Kameo's relationship with her adoptive mother is a typical familial bond, however Kameo still recognizes her as a queen, and addresses her by 'Theena.'
- Thorn: While Kameo hates Thorn for imprisoning her family and wreaking havoc across the land, Thorn seems to view Kameo as a worthy opponent, albeit one who has "already burned so bright."
- The Ancestors: Kameo seems to get along just fine with her extended family, and often participates in activities with them like sparring with Halis or listening to Yeros's stories.
- Ortho: Kameo seems to be on good terms with Ortho. This is more evident toward the end of the game where Ortho notices Solon's character within her.
- The Mystic: Kameo seems to either ignore, or not realize the Mystic's condescending tone of voice when speaking with her. She seems to associate with the Mystic only if she has to.
- The Population: Citizens of the Enchanted Kingdom don't usually recognize Kameo as a royal and as a result, have very casual interactions with her. The tribes around the area respond to her in various ways from indifference, to annoyance, to overall acceptance.
Quotes
- "Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a kingdom to protect, and a Troll King to bring down."
- "As Halis always says; where there's a Warrior, there's a way."
- "I'll fly over that bridge when the time comes."

Trivia
- Kameo at one point in development had blonde hair. Other concepts show her with her hair down.
- Kameo's initial design seen in the GameCube and Xbox betas was much more feminine than her current design which came about during the jump to the 360.
- Kameo at one point in development sported a variety of weapons and items including fans, a whip, a sword, staffs, a web grappling tool, and climbing gear.
- Like Kalus, Kameo had at one point the power to lift the stone curse placed on characters. She is seen using it on a statue of Meepo.
- One possible design for Kameo shows her with feathered wings instead of her usual insect wings.
- Kameo's flying prowess was far greater in the betas where she could fly over deep water and high in the air without trouble. This was probably changed due to the possibilities of sequence breaking, or making the game too easy.
- Kameo can be seen inside each of the Elemental Warriors, mimicking both their attacks and movements.
- The Masquerade Skin Pack allows Kameo to don the outfits of many of Rare's leading ladies. Kameo can dress as Joanna Dark, Vela, and Black Orchid.
