Xbox Kinect (codenamed Project Natal) is a peripheral for the Xbox 360 by Microsoft. It was unveiled at the E3 gaming convention on June 1, 2009.

The Machine

Xbox Kinect will have three motion sensing cameras for recognizing full body movement, and a microphone for voice recognition. The purpose of Kinect is to allow for "controller-free" gaming, allowing games to be controlled completely using one's own body gestures.[1] Kinect can also can scan and recognize real life objects and scan them into the current game. It will be released on November 4, 2010.[2]
