Description
Koins are Kremlings wearing buckets on their heads as helmets and carrying large shields with DK Coins on them.
In the Games
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, one Koin appears in every level in the game. The Koin will not attack, and cannot be harmed directly by Dixie Kong or Kiddy Kong, as he will move his shield towards the direction they are currently standing. However, there will always be a Steel Keg somewhere in the level. The Kongs must trick the Koin by tossing the Steel Keg towards him and then making him turn away from it so that it hits his unprotected back. The most common setup for this is standing in front of the Koin and throwing the Steel Keg at a wall behind him, causing it to bounce off the wall and hit him. When Koins are defeated, they drop the level's DK Coin.
One level also features Koindozers, purple Koins (without DK Coins on their shields) that attempt to push Dixie and Kiddy off cliffs and into bottomless pits.
Donkey Kong Land III
In Donkey Kong Land III, Koins reappear, identical to their previous appearance. The only change is that Koin does not appear in fully-underwater levels, and instead the DK Coin is hidden by itself in those levels.
