List of cheats in Banjo-Kazooie

This is a list of cheats in Banjo-Kazooie. They must be entered by Beak Busting the tiles on the Sandcastle floor in Treasure Trove Cove. Codes are in all capitals and bolded, with the effects listed after them.

In the Xbox Live Arcade port of Banjo-Kazooie, entering any codes which are not given out by Cheato or Bottles will cause the game to stop saving, updating Leaderboards, or awarding Achievements for the current play session (until the game is restarted).

Cheato codes

These are codes given out by Cheato the spellbook when the player finds him in his three locations around Gruntilda's Lair. These can be entered without fear of negative consequence.

  • BLUE EGGS: Doubles the amount of Blue Eggs you can carry.
  • RED FEATHERS: Doubles the amount of Red Feathers you can carry.
  • GOLD FEATHERS: Doubles the amount of Gold Feathers you can carry.
  • BLUE RED GOLD FEATHERS: Refills eggs and red and gold feathers.

Non-Cheato codes

  • CHEAT YOU WONT BE SAD NOW YOU CAN USE THE FLY PAD: Use the Flight Pad without talking to Bottles.
  • CHEAT YOULL BE GLAD TO SEE THE SHOCK JUMP PAD: Use the Shock Jump Pad without talking to Bottles.
  • CHEAT NOW YOU CAN FLY HIGH IN THE SKY: Unlimited red feathers.
  • CHEAT BANJO BEGS FOR PLENTY OF EGGS: Unlimited blue eggs.
  • CHEAT DONT BE A DUMBO GO SEE MUMBO: 99 Mumbo Tokens.
  • CHEAT AN ENERGY BAR TO GET YOU FAR: Complete energy bar (8 pieces.)
  • CHEAT GIVE THE BEAR LOTS OF AIR: Unlimited air.
  • CHEAT LOTS OF GOES WITH MANY BANJOS: Unlimited lives.
  • CHEAT A GOLDEN GLOW TO PROTECT BANJO: Unlimited gold feathers.

Grunty's Lair codes

These are codes not given out by Cheato that are used to open up or otherwise affect various parts of Gruntilda's Lair. These are more dangerous, for if the player uses more than two, they will be told their save data will be erased if the next code is used. Bottles will then give the player the option of backing out. If the player chooses, however, to activate the code, then that file will be erased by Grunty upon the next Save & Quit. Curiously, the characters claim the entire Game Pak will be erased but in fact only the file on which three cheats are used will be reset.

  • CHEAT GO RIGHT ON THROUGH NOTE DOOR TWO: Opens the second Note Door in Grunty's Lair (normally requiring 180 Notes).
  • CHEAT NOTE DOOR THREE GET IN FOR FREE: Opens the third Note Door in Grunty's Lair (normally requiring 260 Notes).
  • CHEAT TAKE A TOUR THROUGH NOTE DOOR FOUR: Opens the fourth Note Door in Grunty's Lair (normally requiring 350 Notes).
  • CHEAT USE THIS CHEAT NOTE DOOR FIVE IS BEAT: Opens the five Note Door in Grunty's Lair (normally requiring 450 Notes).
  • CHEAT THIS TRICKS USED TO OPEN NOTE DOOR SIX: Opens the sixth Note Door in Grunty's Lair (normally requiring 640 Notes).
  • CHEAT THE SEVENTH NOTE DOOR IS NOW NO MORE: Opens the seventh Note Door in Grunty's Lair (normally requiring 765 Notes).
  • CHEAT ONCE IT SHONE BUT THE LONG TUNNEL GRILLE IS GONE: Remove the grille in the tunnel connecting the Mad Monster Mansion puzzle room with the Rusty Bucket Bay puzzle room.
  • CHEAT DONT DESPAIR THE TREE JIGGY PODIUM IS NOW THERE: Activate the Jiggy podium in front of Click Clock Wood's puzzle.
  • CHEAT BOTH PIPES ARE THERE TO CLANKERS LAIR: Raises the two pipes leading to Clanker's Cavern in Grunty's Lair.
  • CHEAT YOULL CEASE TO GRIPE WHEN UP GOES A PIPE: Raise the other, larger pipe outside Clanker's Cavern.
  • YOULL BE AMAZED NOW THE SWAMP PICCY GRILLE IS RAISED: Remove the grille in the tunnel leading to Bubblegloop Swamp's puzzle.
  • CHEAT THE GRILLE GOES BOOM TO THE SHIP PICTURE ROOM: Remove the grille in the tunnel leading to Rusty Bucket Bay's puzzle.
  • CHEAT SHES AN UGLY BAT SO LETS REMOVE HER GRILLE AND HAT: Remove the grille and hat from Grunty's giant statue.
  • CHEAT ITS YOUR LUCKY DAY AS THE ICE BALL MELTS AWAY: Remove the ice ball blocking the first Cheato location.
  • CHEAT WEBS STOP YOUR PLAY SO TAKE THEM AWAY: Remove the webs that block various doors in Grunty's Lair.
  • CHEAT GRUNTY WILL CRY NOW YOUVE SMASHED HER EYE: Unblock the eye on the Grunty head statue.
  • CHEAT UP YOU GO WITHOUT A HITCH UP TO THE WATER LEVEL SWITCH: Raise the water level to its highest.
  • CHEAT YOU WONT HAVE TO WAIT NOW THERES NO CRYPT GATE: Remove the gate leading to the crypt outside Mad Monster Mansion.
  • CHEAT THIS SHOULD GET RID OF THE CRYPT COFFIN LID: Remove the lid to the coffin inside the crypt.
  • CHEAT THEY CAUSE TROUBLE BUT NOW THEY ARE RUBBLE: Remove all breakable walls.
  • CHEAT THERES NOWHERE DANKER THAN IN WITH CLANKER: Opens Clanker's Cavern (without completing its puzzle).
  • CHEAT YOU CAN GET WET FEET NOW CLANKERS JIGGY IS COMPLETE: Completes the Clanker's Cavern puzzle and opens the level.
  • CHEAT NOW INTO THE SWAMP YOU CAN STOMP: Opens Bubblegloop Swamp (without completing its puzzle).
  • CHEAT THE JIGGYS FULL OFF YOU STOMP INTO DINGY BUBBLE GLOOP SWAMP: Completes the Bubblegloop Swamp puzzle and opens the level.
  • CHEAT NOW YOU CAN GO AND TRUDGE IN THE SNOW: Opens Freezeezy Peak (without completing its puzzle).
  • CHEAT THE JIGGYS DONE SO OFF YOU GO INTO FREEZEEZY PEAK AND ITS SNOW: Completes the Freezeezy Peak puzzle and opens the level.
  • CHEAT THIS COMES IN HANDY TO OPEN SOMEWHERE SANDY: Opens Gobi's Valley (without completing its puzzle).
  • CHEAT GOBIS JIGGY IS NOW DONE TREK ON IN AND GET SOME SUN: Completes the Gobi's Valley puzzle and opens the level.
  • CHEAT THE MANSION OF GHOSTS ARE NOW YOUR HOSTS: Opens Mad Monster Mansion (without completing its puzzle).
  • CHEAT THE JIGGYS NOW MADE WHOLE INTO THE MANSION YOU CAN STROLL: Completes the Mad Monster Mansion puzzle and opens the level.
  • CHEAT WHY NOT TAKE A TRIP INSIDE GRUNTYS SHIP: Opens Rusty Bucket Bay (without completing its puzzle).
  • CHEAT THE JIGGYS DONE SO TAKE A TRIP ON TO THE RUSTY BUCKET SHIP: Completes the Rusty Bucket Bay puzzle and opens the level.
  • CHEAT THIS ONES GOOD AS YOU CAN ENTER THE WOOD: Opens Click Clock Wood (without completing its puzzle).
  • CHEAT CLICK CLOCK WOOD IS LOTS OF FUN GO ON IN THE JIGGYS DONE: Completes the Click Clock Wood puzzle and opens the level.

Bottles' Bonus

These are the codes given to you by Bottles in the Bottles' Bonus mingames. These codes have humorous effects and can be entered as much as you want, but only after beating the Bottles' Bonus and are not saved with Save & Quit.

  • BOTTLES BONUS ONE: Gives Banjo large hands.
  • BOTTLES BONUS TWO: Gives Banjo large hands and feet.
  • BOTTLES BONUS THREE: Gives Kazooie a big head.
  • BOTTLES BONUS FOUR: Makes Banjo skinny and gives him a smaller head.
  • BOTTLES BONUS FIVE: Makes Banjo skinny, gives him a small head, and large hands and feet.
  • BIG BOTTLES BONUS: Combines the above codes.
  • WISHY WASHY BANJO: Turns Banjo and Kazooie into a washing machine.
  • NOBONUS: Deactivates any Bottles' Bonus codes.

Stop 'n' Swop

These codes unlock the Stop 'n' Swop items. These were discovered by Ice Mario and SubDrag and are a very important part of the Rare Witch Project's history. In the original version of the game, these can be entered without fear of negative consequence, but cannot be undone, except with GameShark. However, in the Xbox Live Arcade port, entering the Stop 'n' Swop codes will cause game-saving, Achievements, and Leaderboards to be disabled for that session (i.e., until the game is restarted), due to the game requiring a Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts or Banjo-Tooie (XBLA) save file to legitimately activate the secret areas.

  • CHEAT NOW YOU CAN SEE AN ICE KEY WHICH YOU CAN HAVE FOR FREE: Breaks the ice wall blocking the Ice Key in Wozza's Cave in Freezeezy Peak.
  • CHEAT OUT OF THE SEA IT RISES TO REVEAL MORE SECRET PRIZES: Raise Sharkfood Island in Treasure trove Cove and get the Pink Egg.
  • CHEAT A DESERT DOOR OPENS WIDE ANCIENT SECRETS WAIT INSIDE: Open the normally unopenable tomb in Gobi's Valley and get the Blue Egg.
  • CHEAT THIS SECRET YOULL BE GRABBIN IN THE CAPTAINS CABIN: Get the Red Egg in the captain's cabin Rusty Bucket Bay.
  • CHEAT DONT YOU GO AND TELL HER ABOUT THE SECRET IN HER CELLAR: Get the Cyan Egg in the "X" barrel in Mad Monster Mansion.
  • CHEAT NOW BANJO WILL BE ABLE TO SEE IT ON NABNUTS TABLE: Make the Yellow Egg appear on Nabnut's table in Click Clock Wood.
