Mingy Jongo is a boss character in the Banjo-Kazooie series.
Mingy Jongo is an evil robot built in the image of Mumbo Jumbo. It is never explained who built Mingy, but it is generally assumed to be Gruntilda or one of her sisters. On the surface, Mingy looks exactly like Mumbo, but his disguise is very weak and breaks easily.
In his true form, he resembles a metallic Mumbo with glowing red eyes.
In the Games
In Banjo-Tooie, Mingy Jongo is found in a fake Mumbo skull in Cloud Cuckooland. When Banjo and Kazooie meet him he claims to have a "big surprise" for them. He jumps out of his chair, zaps them, and begins laughing evilly. He states that he is not Mumbo, closes the off the second and first floors, and thus begins a boss battle. When they defeat him, his head blows off, green liquid leaks out of his neck, and he disappears.
An easy way to figure out which Skull contains the real Mumbo is thus: if the Skull contains a Minjo on the first floor, then it is the real Mumbo. However, if it contains a Jinjo is found on the first floor, then it is Mingy.
Mingy Jongo's main form of attack is the standard magic fire ball. He shoots fire balls at you, then stands still for a little bit. During that small time of rest, he is vulnernable. Eggs and Talon Trot are not recommended for this battle, as both of those slow down or miss as an attack. Do not try to attack him while he is firing fire balls. After taking four hit points away from him, he will move to phase two.
Mingy will now teleport after firing his shots, and his shots will home in on you. These shots will prevent you from attacking, and must be dodged. After every fourth attack, Mingy's wand will fizzle out, and will he will not move. Then is the time to strike. Another four hits, and he crumbles.
- Mingy Jongo is the only world boss in Banjo-Tooie whose music is not a remix of his world's theme. Instead, his music is a remix of the Mumbo's Skull theme.
