Perfect Dark is a port of the Nintendo 64 game of the same name to the Xbox Live Arcade. The porting of the game was handled mostly by 4J Studios. Perfect Dark XBLA was released on March 17, 2010[1] for a price of 800 Microsoft Points.[1][2]
This article mainly covers the additions and changes made to the Xbox Live Arcade port. For basic information about the story, gameplay, and characters, see the main Perfect Dark article.
Differences from the original
Changes to the game include an upgrade to 1080p HD resolution and a near-consistent frame rate of 60 frames-per-second,[2][4] as well as online multiplayer through Xbox Live, Achievements and Leaderboards.[3] In addition to Xbox Live Achievements, various other challenges that function as extra Achievements have been added to the game. The game also includes two new control schemes, called "Spartan" and "Duty Calls," which set the button layout to be similar to Halo and Call of Duty, respectively.[2] The game also features unlockable Avatar awards.[6]
The game still features the three GoldenEye 007 maps that the original Nintendo 64 version included: Temple, Felicity and Complex. It also includes all of GolenEye's weapons for use in both single-player and multiplayer.[2][7]
The game also has gotten a larger graphical improvement than 4J Studios gave to Banjo-Kazooie (XBLA) and Banjo-Tooie (XBLA), with many environmental textures being replaced with higher-resolution versions. The game's models have also recieved a massive boost, with polygon count increases in the thousands.[2]
