Biography

A Mystic came to the Enchanted Kingdom when the Royal Elves called upon someone with the knowledge of how to use the Element of Power. A Mystic continued to serve every generation of the Royal Family until Solon's Mystic failed to warn him of Thorn's uprising. He lost all faith in her and banished her to the castle gardens, as well as removing her from her position in his council. It was the Mystic who did warn Solon of a raid on the Twycross which proved to be a farce until Thorn and his Troll Lords emerged from hiding. When Kameo was brought to the Enchanted Kingdom along with the remaining Elemental Sprites, the Mystic informed Queen Theena of Solon's fate, and the Queen immediately sent her armies to find the Troll Lords. As a reward, Theena restored the Mystic to power.

When Kalus became of age to inherit the throne, the Mystic revealed to Theena a horrible future with Kalus as Queen. This prompted Theena and the ancestors to come to the decision to give Kameo the kingdom and the powers that came with it. Kalus realizes only in the end that the Mystic was a traitor, but she never passes on this revelation to Kameo.

History and Development

Beta version of the Mystic with Ortho.

In the Game

It is the Mystic who firsts sets the player off to collect the Elemental Sprites as well as rescue the ancestors. The Mystic doesn't affect the game at all herself other than telling the player where to go. If the player decides to visit the Enchanted Kingdom after getting Thermite instead of going straight to Thorn's Castle, the Mystic will be nowhere to be found. This lasts through to the epilogue.

Relations with Other Characters

  • Kameo: The Mystic's initial referring to Kameo as a "child" suggests a lack of respect, which only continues with future interactions. Her constant use of "Very good" in a condescending tone also supports this.
  • Kalus: The Mystic informed Kalus of her family's decision to pass the crown to Kameo, knowing how Kalus would react and play into her eventual plan. Only Kalus is fully aware of the Mystic's treachery.
  • Theena: The Mystic seems to be on good terms with the Queen, probably because it was Theena who prevented her from being expelled from the kingdom by Solon.
  • The Ancestors: The Mystic blatantly calls the ancestors "fools" for suggesting that Kameo go ahead to Thorn's Castle instead of coming back to the Enchanted Kingdom. She also uses the same tone of voice with them as she does Kameo.
  • Solon: When she failed to report Thorn's uprising, Solon wanted nothing more to do with her, almost banishing her from the kingdom completely had it not been for Theena. Needless to say, the Mystic's relationship with the late King was strained.
  • Ortho: The Mystic's interactions with Ortho serve mostly as comic relief as the two constantly bicker and make smart remarks at eachother.
  • Warrior Trainer: The Mystic's relationship with the Warrior Trainer seems to be strictly business and nowhere beyond that. He is only allowed to enter her hut it seems if she calls for him.

Trivia

  • According to the beta image, the Mystic might have had hair.
  • It is largely implied by the Podcast that the Mystic is the last Sargothan.
  • The Mystic is the one who brews the Elixir of Life, which would support her being the same Mystic to serve every generation of the royal family.
  • The Mystic has a recipe in her wardrobe which explains the game's development and console jumps:

Take one Cube of ice... Add two beetles from a Box of Creepy Crawlies... Heat to 360 degrees... Add Meepo scales to taste. Eat before the crust heals over. A dish best served cold.
