Biography
Solon, King of the Fifteenth Age, was journeying far from home and so devoted to the recovery of the warriors, he plunged into the raging heart of a fiery volcano to retrieve the Elemental Sprite. The reward for his bravery and obsession was Thermite, the might warrior whose elemental forces kept the heart of the planet itself a raging firestorm-bringing warmth to protect life itself. Solon was able to use this final warrior and the now-completed Wotnot Book to quell a Troll insurrection, banishing the Trolls and ushering in a new era of peace. It was Solon who commanded the Chamber of Living Portraits be constructed as a memorial to the war, and to the struggle he and his forefathers had endured. [1]
History and Development
In the Game
Thermite is the last Elemental Sprite to be found-tucked away deep in the Ogre's Swamp in the possession of a Shadow Troll. Thermite is primarily used to destroy Troll tanks and other large pieces of machinery. His Blast Shield is also used to navigate lava beds safely, and his powerful attacks prove useful to quickly taking down Thorn.
Abilities
- Mortar - Thermite readies his weapon with the left trigger.
- Firecracker - Pulling the right trigger will cause Thermite to unleash
- Lava Bomb - With his magma bowl readied, Thermite launches an egg bomb with the right trigger.
- Blast Shield - With the left and right triggers, Thermite presses himself against his volcanic crater and rolls across the landscape, avoiding all damage.
- Fire Burst - An upgrade to Thermite's Lava Bombs which causes them to leave behind a fiery wake.
- Atom Splitter - An upgrade of Thermite's Lava Bombs which splits them apart with each explosion.
- Backblast - While in Mortar mode, Thermite sucks an enemy into his egg with the left and right trigger, and forces it out with the same buttons.
Trivia
- Thermite was the last Warrior to be found by both Kameo and Solon.
- Thermite seems rather timid when compared to the other Warriors. This might be due to his status as the strongest Warrior.
- Thermite carries a "volcanic crater/egg" on his back which shoots "egg bombs." This might reference the Scorpion enemies.
- Thermite's Design-A-Skin Contest Skin shows him carrying the world on his shoulders. This could reference the end of the game where Kameo has the the fate of her world in her hands. This is somewhat supported in how Thermite is used primarily in the final battle, as well as the skirmish at the foot of Thorn's Castle.
- Thermite was one of the five Warriors condemned to the Shadow Realm by Theena along with Thorn's Troll Lords.
