Description
Tickers are large termites who live in a tower in Mumbo's Mountain.
In the Games
Banjo-Kazooie
In Banjo-Kazooie, they are mostly found in and around their tower in Mumbo's Mountain. They can be easily defeated by most attacks, and their only attack is walking into Banjo. If regular Banjo and Kazooie enter the Ticker's Tower, they will be told to leave by a Ticker at the entrance, and they are unable to scale the slippery slopes of the tower. If Banjo enters while transformed into a termite, however, he can easily climb up the tower, eventually leading to a Jiggy. Termite Banjo will also be harassed by the Tickers, who will tell him to hand over his backpack and shorts to them.
A Ticker also appears in Gruntilda's Lair just outside the entrance to Mumbo's Mountain after it opens.
Finally, Tickers also appear inside the Christmas tree in Freezeezy Peak.
Trivia
- One of the early ideas for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts was for the game to be a purported straight remake of the original Banjo-Kazooie, albeit with extreme and unexpected changes. One such change noted by developer Gregg Mayles was that a giant Ticker queen would burst out of the top of the Ticker tower and Banjo and Kazooie would have to get Conga the gorilla to lob oranges at it in order to defeat it.[1]
