Biography

Trophy Thomas is a tall cheetah with blue hair on his head. He commonly wears red glasses, a "#1" necklace, and shorts with a trophy belt buckle. T.T. is overly-competitive, highly self-confident, and extremely egotistical. He is the keeper of the T.T. Trophies, which he only gives to those who manage to surpass his own scores in Jiggy games. T.T. lives in his house in Showdown Town, which features a large silver statue of himself behind it.

In the Games

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Trophy Thomas is one of the character actors in the game worlds, appearing in Nutty Acres and the Jiggosseum. His T.T. Trophies are also the top prize for every vehicle challenge. Each T.T. Trophy is worth 1/4 of a Jiggy, and every four collected will allow Banjo and Kazooie a Jiggy from T.T.'s Jig-O-Vend.

If players visit his house in Showdown Town and talk to him, he will also enable them to replay any vehicle challenge which they have earned at least a Jiggy on simply by selecting it from a menu, rather than going all the way to the respective game world's entrance.

If the player wins all of the T.T. Trophies in the L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges downloadable content, the achievement "Paint The Town Gold" is unlocked, and the statue of Thomas in Showdown Town turns gold.

In Nutty Acres, Trophy Thomas plays the role of a (still overly-competitive) mechanic on the farm. He first appears in Act 2, in which he hosts the challenge "Coconut Circuits". In this challenge, Trophy Thomas challenges Banjo and Kazooie to a race around the farm. He next appears in Act 4, hosting the challenge "Cheatin' Witch". In this challenge, Trophy Thomas asks Banjo and Kazooie to defeat Piddles in a race, as she has been causing trouble. He appears again in Act 5, hosting the challenge Leaky Waterworks. In this challenge, the Gruntbots have damaged the farm's water pipes, meaning the coconuts won't be properly watered. T.T. asks Banjo and Kazooie to patch up the water pipes so that the coconuts won't wither and die. Finally, he appears in Act 6, hosting the challenge "Freewheel Festival". In this challenge, L.O.G. removes all control other than steering and T.T. challenges Banjo and Kazooie to see how far they can ride by just freewheeling. He also appears in a minor role. During Klungo's "Riverbed Head to Head" he appears alongside Mumbo Jumbo, Klungo, Bottles, Humba Wumba, and Mr. Fit as a competitor in the riverbed race. He also appears in Bottles' "Air Coconut" challenge alongside the same group as a competitor in the plane race. He appears once more in Mr. Fit's "Makin' Waves" challenge alongside the same group as a competitor in the boat race.

In Jiggosseum, Trophy Thomas plays the role of a record-holding champion. He first appears in Act 2, in which he hosts the challenge "Burnin' Rubber". In this challenge, T.T. invites Banjo and Kazooie to compete in a endurance race around the track surrounding the colosseum against himself, Captain Blubber and Mr. Fit. He next appears in Act 3, hosting the challenge "A Load of Blocks". In this challenge, T.T. has Banjo and Kazooie compete in a race against himself, Blubber and Mr. Fit similar to his last one, except this time with hurdles in place. Finally, he appears in Act 6, hosting the challenge "Bear in a Ball". In this challenge, Trophy Thomas defies Banjo and Kazooie to make it through various areas of the colosseum in a vehicle shaped like a ball with their steering controls reversed.

Trivia

  • Trophy Thomas is actually based on a Rare employee, James Thomas (known as BIGsheep on internet communities). Trophy Thomas is a common nickname for Mr. Thomas, explained by this blog post (in addition, at the time of Nuts & Bolts development, his hair was dyed blue, another inspiration).

Quotes

From Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

  • "I'm almost speechless at how well you did. You must be using a cheat code! That's it! Did you stop the game and swop something?"
