Banjo Kazooie Test Map

We can hardly believe this little gem escaped us all these years, but here, finally see the test map that Rare must've used at one point. Most likely, this test map merely tested the Talon Trot and how well it would hold up against varying slopes. There are eight slopes in the test map, and Kazooie cannot Talon Trot completely up any of them. The shallowest slopes you can Talon Trot and then jump past, but the rest you just plain cannot get up the whole way.

Why has it been hidden all these years? Well, apparently the Banjo Kazooie team decided to remove it from its standard warp modifier. Who knows why they removed it from there exactly, but most likely this test map would have been one of the freeze digits we found. Not only that, but this background modifier digit was removed from the PAL version, so it looks like they either were hiding their tracks or condensing unnecessary things (they did tidy up the text modifier digits). If you change the background modifier (8136B362) to 14D7, it also is the same test map. We assume it was some sort of cosmetics load (the loaded details like cobwebs, flowers, etc), but at this point it looks to be exactly the same as the Test Map.

Just load up Banjo Kazooie and you'll be at the Test Map.

NOTE: There will be some drops of water randomly. That is not in fact part of the test map, it's just that the cleanest area we could use to place the test map still had this bit of water. Also, if you walk through the tallest pillar it will warp you out and back in. This is again not part of the test map, but part of the level we modified to become the test map.

If you want to spruce the Test Map up a little bit you can add the Advent music.
