Zy0n7 14th October 2005 06:32 PM

In in-game order terms, the first egg should be the pink one, since TTT comes bofore MMM

Gold Jinjo 14th October 2005 06:48 PM

*stickied on account of senseless whining*

hatrickpatrick 14th October 2005 07:48 PM

Ok, so red and yellow out. I'll try the remaining eggs, in order, tomorrow.

I think we've got another problem though.
1: If the sandcastle codes arent the normal way to activate the eggs and key, then what is? I'm not sure if collection the right ones will make a difference unless they've been activated the right way...
2: What do we actually do after we've got the right ones? It could be that instead of something automatically happening once the right eggs are collected, we atually have to go and do something before it'll be active, in which case we're going to have to come at this from another angle entirely >_<

Lets not be pessemistic though. I'll try these combinations tomorrow and see if they get us anywhere.

Perhaps we can work backwards with this. How about we use the sandcastle codes to activate the eggs' appearance, then search for where it is happening at in the ram.

Then we proceed to find out if there are any other in-game events that are linked to that.

Is there anything that I should try? I wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my time. Or do you have something else in mind?

hatrickpatrick 16th October 2005 01:55 PM

Hmmm
I could try looking for the sandcastle activator, but the problem with banjo is that it's near impossible to get a managable number of results.

The method is as follows
Have no items
do an unknown value search
collect one of the eggs, say, blue
do a different to search
do random stuff in the game (fire a few eggs, kill an enemy, go into a different room
do an equal to search
get rid of the egg with the sns code
do a different to search
repeat

you have to make sure you use the same egg eacvh time, as they may all have different addresses...
I have to finish a school project thing, which is why I've been so busy over the last week. It'll be done this evening, so I can try this tomorrow. If I'm lucky, I can try it this evening...

I would do this, but I am in the same position as you are. I also have a school project to take care of.

DevilBottles 17th October 2005 02:30 AM

ok, i havent been following this thread very well, but it seems as though you guys are doing well enough to get Stickied :D

So, what has been found out?

Alright, I am ready to get started. All of my rediculous obligations are out of the way. I am now ready to tackle SnS.

Since I am a procrastinator, I can work straight through Sunday(That is when I do my homework). I also do not go to school untill 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Time to start. Now, since you have probably started on the blue egg, hatrick, I will begin the work with the red egg.

I will report when I am done.

Kratos_Aurion 22nd October 2005 02:54 PM

Okay, I just got back from a 2 day vacation (actually, I got back yesterday in the afternoon, but I forgot to mention this), and I got to ask my uncle who works for Microsoft about Stop N Swop. Apparently, he knew nothing about it (I wound up explaining it to him), but from what I can gather, they are making a sequel to the BK series. I don't know how accurate his info is, but he seemed pretty sure about the sequel.

repobanjo 22nd October 2005 03:40 PM

Wow. That makes me much happier. New B-K game... Anyway, did you ask your aunt who works at the Nintendo help line?

Kratos_Aurion 22nd October 2005 05:12 PM

Unfortunately, she didn't come out this time. It was just the people who were directly related to my dad who visited, and she's just married to my uncle who works for Microsoft. I hadn't known that she wasn't coming when I mentioned her in my other post. Sorry.

hatrickpatrick 22nd October 2005 08:31 PM

Ok folks, I'm officially back. Tomorrow, I'm going to, after ages of procrastination, try and attack these demo control codes. I cant promise I'll be able to compile a fixed digits list, since the actions caused by each digit seem to change each time. But I'll at lkeast have a rough picture of it. It might not be done until monday though...

Go_Nosis 24th October 2005 11:37 PM

theory

I have an Idea.

Now keep in mind I was NOT gonna read through 938 posts to see whether or not this was thought of, so sorry if it was. :P

Consider the following about the eggs.

Blue - found behind golden doors, in a sarcophagus.
Pink - found by raising an entire island, and climbing a naturally formed tower inside of it.
Cyan - Found by moving the wall in the cellar, and entering the secret room.

Green, Red, and Yellow are in places Banjo can get to anyway. Also realize that the ice key is ALWAYS visible. That may be the case for the first 3 eggs, as well. if that were true, then 3 of the eggs are already in the game, while 3 of the eggs have to be "placed" in the game via codes or gameshark.

opinions, people?

EDIT:: Nevermind. after reading everything you guys did... wow.
sorry if i wasted your time at all, I'd really love to help. I have BK, but no beaten files (attempt to erase key/eggs), but i have every SnS item.

No way! This thread is basically the thread that is about ANYTHING that could bring us closer to SnS. anything that is actually logical (not climb up the tree to get SnS!) is mostly welcome! :D even if it is a repeat, itll get us to think about it again, and it might even help us get one step closer. :D

Benjo Koolzooie 4th November 2005 03:52 PM

I think the best bet to find anything is just to locate those triggers if anything, if they exist.

dmoss 4th November 2005 08:22 PM

Yep, everything revolves around the triggers...(glad to see this thread is updated...I have been trying to find something to say here for days, just to change the last date...! Thanks, benjo koolzooie!)

GameandWatch33 5th November 2005 04:29 PM

Speaking of benjo, long time no see man.

Anyway, I have been working on the triggers slightly, I am waiting to get really in-depth with them untill I have a few hours to set aside. I haven't heard from hatrick in a while so, I do not know where he stands at this time.

Hi there, you noticed I haven't been around! - I've been busy, got a full time job (as a waiter!) :p . Plus, I waited a while for some more of the SNS discussion to "unfold". :)

hatrickpatrick 6th November 2005 06:16 PM

I got caught up in halloween last week - we decided to put on a huge fireworks display at my friend's halloween party, and seeing as fireworks are illegal for consumer sale in Ireland that wasnt an easy job >_>. Thank god for the north's different licensing laws! I've been working on the demo control codes, and am starting, I think, to get a general picture of how they work, although I'm a few days off being able to compile a fixed functions list...
If I havent got the actual movement controls worked out by Tuesday night, I'm going to post all the other demo control codes I have, post the movement ones as soon as I've finished them. Again, sorry for the wait, but I needed some time to recover... We stayed up until about midnight setting off large Cat. 3 display fireworks, then watched the Shining. My first time seeing that movie - I'm now scared to leave the house by myself :p

DevilBottles 7th November 2005 12:17 AM

I have no idea what you just said :p

Anyway, I just remembered to ask.... I just remembered that one movie you made where the pink Jinjo had the black egg... Whatever happened to finishing? :p

But, I'd actually like to know what program you used to shoot that movie... If I may ask.

hatrickpatrick 8th November 2005 08:18 PM

holy crap
I completely forgot about it, I'm afraid. I'll come back to it soon. Thanks for reminding me

I've been really busy this last summer, you see. I had an exam called the Junior cert. Not sure what it's called in the US but in england it's the O level. pretty intense stuff. I sort of got out of tuch with the whole hacking world in general, and forgot about it for a while, hence my long periods of inactivity. Then, just as I was coming back, after the exams, I suddenly had this halloween party to do... Anyway, I'm back now for good. I've got some of the demo digit list compiled at last, and will finish and post within a few days, I hope.

If, by, say, the end of the weekend, I havent got the full digits list, I'll just post what I have up to now, and post the rest later as I figure them out...

dmoss 8th November 2005 11:08 PM

Glad to see you back and healthy, repo! Now, let's see if we can't get some of this stuff figured out, shall we...;)

GameandWatch33 9th November 2005 06:02 PM

First Benjo, now Hatrick, the greats are returning. Welcome back fellas. Time to get down and dirty into the seemingly perpetual puzzle that is SnS.

I have been working on some of the stuff that you had previousally instructed, hatrick. I will post my results after you post yours, mainly to see if they are different. If you have everything I have + more, I won't even bother. I will of course review your data, and on the minute chance that I have found something that you have not, I will proceed to post it.

Looking foward to the updates.

hatrickpatrick 9th November 2005 06:36 PM

There is one thing to remember when I do actually get the demo control digits: I'm testing all this stuff with PJ64 and emucheat, for the simple reason that using BK with an AR is incredibly annoying (key codes - every time it crashes, you have to go through the AR menu twice just to get the game to start, with every chance it'll crash because you moved the cart too much while pressing the AR button) so I'll post them as soon as their ready. I'll take another day or so to verify that they work well on the console...

The problem, you see, is that, like instant warp, you need to be able to change it constantly during the game.

The direct movement control codes are only active for a split second when the game activates them, and they trigger a function. The control address is set back to 00 once the function takes over. Meaning, essentially, that the classic "80" code format might not work in this case - it'll either have to be button activated, which would be very restrictive, or you'll have to use the memory editor, or an emulator, to use them. I myself would recommend the memory editor, it's the easiest of the 3 IMO...

Me??? I was always here! You must mean hatrick! *bows down to hatrick*. Man, you rock!

digidestind 11th November 2005 12:57 AM

guys i have a llot of things to say

1. when mumbo showed us the pictures he made it clear that "they are to be used in banjo tooie" not donkey kong, banjo tooie.

2. what mumbo siad was true. WE DID use them in banjo tooie we used the ice key, and the two eggs.

3. notice that mumbo only showed us the IMPORTANT THINGS. he showed us the things that we awwed at. looking at: the ice key, shark food island, and the tomb.

4. all the other eggs are just put in plain view.

5. the only levels that dont have an egg are mumbos mountan, klankers cavern, and bubble gloop swamp. {freezeezey peak, had the ice key

6. who says that there are only 6 eggs, maybe there are more in the levels mentioned above, that would bring the total up to 10 eggs.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7. and finally i think i have solved the stop n swop riddle.
IN BANJO TOOIE YOU OPENED THE EGGS BY (STOPPING) AT THE BIRD'S HOUSE AND (SWOPPING) TO KAZOOIE TO HATCH THE EGGS!

Good Ideas, but...

1. BK was released in 1998, and BT and DK were still being developed, and there were hints of SnS in DK

2. That was just so we wouldn't be looking for the truth (even though we still looked)

3. Let's say that there's a puzzle where you have to find items. They show you a few of the items, because it would spoil the hunt if all were revealed.

4. Probabaly just so they could be somewhere.

5. We all know

6. They looked through the code, and there ARE only 6 eggs. There's no more room on the SnS screen for more eggs.

7. same as the 2nd answer.

vaticandrummer 11th November 2005 01:13 AM

Too bad those things have been said before. Plus, we know that SnS wasn't cancelled until BT started. That means the BK end is still there. We know that we can't completely Stop 'n Swap because plans for that were cancelled after DK, before the making of BT.

Plus, Ice and Sub have found *all* of the eggs. There are no more.

Your riddle demeans the entire point of SnS; Rare wouldn't make an entire portion of BK dedicated to your character switching characters in a later game.

dmoss 11th November 2005 03:32 PM

Yeah, digidestind, seems like you may not be making a good name for yourself, there, Bud. Maybe you should start talking about things other than trying to contradict us while you're still somewhat ahead...

digidestind 11th November 2005 04:15 PM

im just playing devils advocate

Klungo 11th November 2005 09:21 PM

Digidestind didn't mean what you guys think he meant. I'll explain it. By Bird's House he meant where Heggy is in BT, and by swapping to Kazooie he meant using the Character switch pads that are located across Tooie. Basicly he meant that you had to STOP in at Heggy's House and SWOP to Kazooie using the pad to hatch the yellow egg.

dmoss 11th November 2005 09:51 PM

Yep, that's exactly what I thought he meant. Just doesn't seem to approach subjects in a good way...kind of like, "I'm new, and you guys haven't done any research or planning for the last several years; I'm right and you're all wrong." I don't think that's a good way to come in as a newb.

Benjo Koolzooie 12th November 2005 01:02 PM

Ok. I have BK to play again once more (via emu). What can I do? I guess I'll beat the game through first and look for things after!

digidestind 12th November 2005 02:47 PM

hey dont underestimate me i know allot more about the topic than you guys take me for.

Benjo Koolzooie 12th November 2005 04:22 PM

Scratch my last comment. Laptop is having problems playing games...!

digidestind, forget the last few comments made towards you. - What are your opinions on Stop and Swop as a whole. Just so I can work out where you stand. I ask this everybody.

hatrickpatrick 13th November 2005 07:34 PM

Ok, I just need one or two more days to get the basic structure of the demo control list. I think I can get a lot of it done during this week. Sorry for yet another delay, but hopefully this will be the last one...

Gaming Master2k 13th November 2005 07:45 PM

I just thought I'd let you all know that my exams are finally over (YAY! No more high school!!!!) so I am able to do things now. Thanks for being patient.

dmoss 13th November 2005 07:50 PM

Congratulations! I'm proud of ya'! You'll enjoy college. It's definitely not as bad as people say it is...

Can't wait to see what you guys bring back to the SnS table after such a long hiatus!

(Check out the "Holy Crap...The Ice Key!" topic...I'm a bit confused...

ok personally i love to think about sns and i love to research about it on the internet. i made this thread to say the probable answer, even though i totally disagree. remember, i was playing devils advocate. (fyi, devils advocate means; thinking on the opposite perspective)

Benjo Koolzooie 17th November 2005 03:43 PM

Yeah, I do that a lot too. It's always good to have somebody looking at something in another perspective, it can easy to go along with the masses, but a slight bit of friction can cause the masses to rethink, and stop conclusions being jumped to.
