Banjo-Kazooie comes to Nintendo Switch Online on January 20th

Banjo-Kazooie, the beloved classic platformer featuring a bear and a bird, returns to Nintendo Consoles this Thursday! Are you excited to replay this classic? Post your favorite moments in this thread and talk about which part of the adventure you're excited to relive.

I hope Tooie also comes to the Switch.

Yush!!!

The resolution is nice and crisp. I am also hoping Tooie comes to Switch, might pick up the expansion pack for a bit then.

This is going to look really nice on the OLED model's screen.

Really wish the speech font was a higher resolution, but it sure beats whatever monstrosity was used in the 360 version.

I'm super glad it finally happened, but I hate that they don't just let us buy the game. The Virtual Console model was so much more consumer-friendly than NSO. I'd gladly pay upwards of $9.99 for this game and Tooie.

If enough people upgrade NSO for this, do you think Gregg Mayles might finally take pity on us and give us the Threeie we've always wanted?

We already got Nuts & Bolts.

Part of the rider for Zondekel joining staff was that she had to hate Banjo Tooie and admit that Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts is Banjo Threeie at every opportunity

I make the rules here.

We don't talk about those times.

Unless we get an N&B port to Switch. Then we shall talk plenty.

Hey, nice to see I'm not the only old face coming out of the woodwork for this.

Hold me back, guys, I'm about to conflagration violent. :dk

Banjo on Switch is so nice! I have to admit, it sucks to see that the same old emulation errors, like the texture tiling, haven't been addressed, especially given the price point. But I still shelled out for NSO and I'm having a great time.

I've seen a lot of angry Youtube commenters who think the Switch should have gotten the XBLA port but, for me, the nostalgia factor of having the original aspect ratio, font, life counter sprites, etc. is really nice. The XBLA ports were also just not polished to the same degree as the originals -- the cutscenes took forever to load and some of them caused huge issues, the organ in MMM played the same awful note over and over again, Jamjars' songs in Tooie didn't rhyme! They're small issues but the high degree of polish and attention to detail that went into the originals is why they're classics!

The number-one reason people prefer the Xbox port is that it "fixed" the music notes by making them permanently collectable, but imho that sucks all the challenge out of the game. There are zero repercussions for dying on Xbox. If you ask me, the only really good thing the ports did was fix the framerate in Tooie. Everything else is better on N64.

By the way, the NSO version actually fixed a glitched texture in the portal to Freezeezy Peak. I think that's literally the only change they made, and I never would have noticed if someone hadn't posted pics on Twitter. (I never even noticed the original texture was glitched!)

Anyhoo, I actually did upgrade my NSO subscription to play Banjo-Kazooie and yep, it's still a great game. I even found a cool glitch: if you turn into a washing machine via Bottles's puzzle, then go to Mad Monster Mansion and turn into a pumpkin, and then leave MMM and walk towards the Gobi's Valley picture until the magic runs out, you'll be propelled uncontrollably backwards until you either fall off the ledge or hit a wall. That's probably been documented, but it was new to me.

Can't wait for Tooie to get on NSO too, since that one's even better!
