Installing Wii Wads
Now that the Wad installer has been out, do you guys think Nintendo is gonna start monitoring? Kinda like live?
(For those who dont know what im talking about) http://wehackwii.blogspot.com/2008/0...installer.html Lots of pirating going on in the wii homebrew scene, now im not saying im not a pirate, cause ive been using this installer myself. But i do believe Nintendo is gonna take a more serious approach to their online system next gen. What do you guys think? |
Here comes the software update, I hope.

Wait, so people are basically downloading the Wii Shop things for free, somehow? What exactly does this hack do?

By installing a WAD file onto the wii, this will give you the game and the wii will automatically think you own it (bought it) and you can even download it again from the shop channel. you can also get the opera channel for free too i can see custom firmwares coming real soon. |
maybe I will get this if Nintendo won't do anything against it
|
I'm not going to use it.
AT ALL. |
Would it morally be wrong to use it for games I already own?
|
It isn't about morals Avarice, its about law suits.

This looks pretty cool... do they have any legitimate homebrew stuff yet, like a simple MP3 player or something?
|
emu_kidid has made a simple MP3 player, but I have never tried it yet.
There are emulators already out (that work very, very well, IMHO) for the SNES, Genesis, NES and a few others. So, I wouldn't bother with these major illegalities at all, considering these windows are open (and have been for quite awhile). EDIT: O how could I forget. MFEplayer has been ported to Wii mode. |
This rocks... I've downloaded like 20 VC games.

This doesn't seem safe to me. It'd be way too easy for Nintendo to find out what games I would have been stealing. Count me out.

Hasn't there been problems in the past with the automatic updates killing hacked systems? Plus, the only way to stop that is to yank the cable out of the wall - until the next time it happens, of course.
|
If the Wii detects any modified hardware on the system it instantly powers off. I don't think it detects this yet, but it won't be long. Just turn off WiiConnect24 and never update the system. Unfortunately, updates can be packed with first-party games. So don't be too surprised if your Wii won't turn on.
