Super Luigi Country (100% COMPLETE!!!)

HERE IT IS: http://www.mediafire.com/download/n7...gi_Country.zip

That's right everybody! To celebrate the Year of Luigi, I'm making a game about everyone's favorite plumber! also it doesn't take itself seriously so calm downnnghgHHHH But yeah the best way I can describe this is WarioWare mixed with Super Meat Boy. Each level is short and drastically different from all the others, and I tried to make each level pretty tough. But don't worry, death isn't really that big of a deal.

Anywhoo, this game will feature:
  • 25 levels of madness!
  • Big bad bosses!
  • A soundtrack comprised entirely of old game music!
  • A harsh whip cracking sound that plays whenever you die. To punish you.
  • Secrets! ;)

===SCREENSHOTS===

Oh man. That's big.

There are plenty of fish in the sea. ;)

The title screen.

CURRENT GAME COMPLETION: 100%

I will answer any and all questions related to the game. I'll also be keeping you all updated as I make progress!

Alas...

"The program can't start because CNCS32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

Putting this in the same folder as the .exe fixes it.

(edit) Righto, I played it. Uh, not bad. I liked the backgrounds, (and the music, though that's not saying much for obvious reasons...:P). Game froze up once in the second level after hitting the big falling thing and then hitting it again as I spawned (while still holding down right) twice. Controls are actually fairly tight, which honestly surprised me...although I felt like jumping a lit lower and moving a little faster would be better than the opposite - first level is pretty annoying because it's your first encounter with the controls, and you can't really tell how high you jump because you go off-screen, but you have to make that jump to progress...

I was fairly annoyed at first when I saw the second level's end point moving after getting to it...but like I said, the controls are fairly tight and they're pretty easy to master, so once I got there, I got back on the first try...

Thanks for that, I went ahead and uploaded the link to include cncs32.dll!

And thanks for the critiques! The program I used to make the game is pretty old, so some buginess is natural. :P

As for the controls, I made his jump really ridiculously high to exaggerate his jumping powers. NSLU used his controls to add to the difficulty, so I decided to do that to the EXTREME. I also tried to make the game very very hard., in cheap and not-so-cheap ways.

Sorry about the second level's moving end point! I like adding in surprises. :3

Thanks again!

I just actually finished the demo. It was awesome, if not slightly frustrating so far, but I enjoyed it. The unlimited lives was a Godsend. For me the most difficult was the Castlevania stage!

They were probably buttmad because you didn't make yet another Super Mario World mod or something so eye wateringly beautiful that it would make MIYAMOTO-SAMA red with jealousy and envy.

UPDATE: I recommend not playing this game in full-screen. Why? Because if you don't you get to see the silly names I made up for each level at the top of the game window <3

Notable titles: "Sea Plus Plus", "Mushroom KingDUMB", "Riggin' and Jiggin'"

Bartimaeus 11th February 2014 05:53 PM

Those are terrible...haha. I await the completed game with bated breath!
