Perfect Dark XBLA Out In March

Microsoft's Major Nelson and Rare Ltd.'s Twitter account has both confirmed that the upcoming Perfect Dark remake for the Xbox Live Arcade will be released in March, as a part of the Xbox Live Arcade Block party, along with Scrap Metal and Game Room. The long anticipated release is apparently almost in our hands!

Other news from Microsoft's X10 event in San Francisco today included the announcement of the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta for Halo 3: ODST owners beginning on May 3rd, Xbox-exclusive Alan Wake will launch May 18 in North America and May 21 in Europe, and the revelation of Fable 3, coming to the Xbox this holiday.

Stay tuned with the Rare Witch Project for more Perfect Dark and Xbox news!

TRBB 11th February 2010 09:15 PM

It's true.

Pies 11th February 2010 09:16 PM

They couldn't of made it any later, since they did say this winter didn't they o-O

Anyway I can't wait!

booZee 11th February 2010 09:21 PM

Damn, I was looking forward to a release this month :-/.

Ah well, at least it's coming out by the end of winter (which is what they said).

Dylan Yoshi 12th February 2010 01:17 AM

Only 800 points? YES!

TRBB 12th February 2010 01:39 AM

Rare said it was 1200 just like BK and BT. Maybe they lowered it? Anyways, I'm excited to play this even though I've never played the original. 200 Gamer Points worth for Achievements? That's crazy. I didn't know they could remake Goldeneye stages. Sounds interesting. I'm so pumped up for this.

Dylan Yoshi 12th February 2010 01:50 AM

The Goldeneye stages were in the original game.

Edit: Video of the first level! 800 point price confirmed.

Motzhand 12th February 2010 06:32 AM

Oh man, I so excited about this. When I saw that it was only 800 ms points I was sure that I'd pick this up. Plus, it's got all of Goldeneye's weapons, which is another definite plus in my book.

But, like TRBB, I wonder why they lowered it from what I thought was the original price, 1200ms points? It seems like people would still buy it at that price, but I guess Rare must not share that same opinion.

Aaron Anderson 12th February 2010 09:07 AM

800 MS points! Whoo-hoo!

drumbum007 12th February 2010 03:05 PM

YES! I was prepared to spend 1200 MS points in December, and with this price drop, the wait was well worth it. I can't wait to play a high FPS session of PD multiplayer; its gonna be awesome!

Ice Lightning 12th February 2010 05:12 PM

800 points? Nice!
Can't wait to play this game, been waiting for it for so long, Perfect Dark remade and looking gorgeous.

And it's got a trailer!

Dylan Yoshi 12th February 2010 05:52 PM

... Is that cut scene in the trailer out of sync? In the original game, Joanna doesn't say, "I don't care much for procedures" until she gets to the door. Maybe they just edited the trailer so she'd say it there?

I kinda doubt it would be out of sync, since that's such a short cut scene and there are no load points that could slow down the audio like in BT, but... I dunno.

BanjoPL 13th February 2010 11:08 AM

The trailer is awesome. DLC idea will works perfectly with PD XBLA.

Aaron Anderson 13th February 2010 11:11 AM

The trailer blew my mind! March couldn't be taking longer to arrive though.

Dylan Yoshi 13th February 2010 07:46 PM

DLC? Awesome! Imagine if they ported the rest of the Goldeneye Maps!

Breegullbeak 13th February 2010 08:55 PM

Would be awesome. I'd love DLC. Mabye the most popular PD maps, or mabye a port of a popular Live and Reloaded map, or somthing new and awesome.

Nintendo would have a field day on that, but it would be awesome for the half an hour they were in development before Nintendo pulls out the Sue-shroom.

shadowbulba 13th February 2010 11:43 PM

Wow 800 MS. I get to enjoy a great game without the feeling of being ripped off. Hurry up March!

In the articles defense, any time I played the bots in the game I always imagined them being random people from around the world playing against me.

Balobo 16th February 2010 12:02 AM

It would've been cool if they did the polygon thing with the Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie ports, too, but w/e.

I think Rare wanted to personally handle updates to their favourite Bear and Bird, so they gave improved ports of the originals as a cheap, alternative way to own the games and hopefully boost the pairs popularity.

Cheap? They're more expensive than Perfect Dark, somehow.

No rag on BK, but this seems like a better update and its less somehow.

Hmm should I mark it. . . no probably not

tony111ster 17th February 2010 04:29 AM

Between Perfect Dark, Pokémon, Final Fantasy XIII and Miles Edgeworth...my pockets are gonna hurt. And Perfect Dark is on the top of my list.

AFX 19th February 2010 10:05 AM

What I've been wondering is whether or not they upped the sound quality of the game. Especially the voices now that they don't need to compress it all to fit on a crappy N64 cartridge. ( sorry, N64 )

I kind of liked the muffled voices. :U

But it'll be interesting to see how they handled them.

Aaron Anderson 19th February 2010 12:32 PM

The voices sound muffled? They probably should but I never notice these things, blinded and deafened by sheer nostalgia!

Airman 21st February 2010 03:20 AM

Looking forward to this. Just to clarify, because I can't be bothered reading all the articles, multi-player; can you play with other people through Live?

They used the original music and sound recordings they had. But now they are not compressed. So yeah, it will sound even better than it did before!
