Discuss what animes you're watching and manga you're reading
A general anime thread.

I've been watching a new show called Himouto! Umaru-Chan lately. It's pretty slice of life but I like it. It is about a perfect schoolgirl who happens to be a NEET behind closed doors. I've also been watching Toriko.

What about you?

Mobile Fighter G Gundam.

The main character recently had to face his teacher, Master Asia, who has turned evil and is helping his brother, who is piloting the Devil Gundam. He was defeated by a masked German man, however, and is now training his abilities by getting naked and jumping off a waterfall while holding a rusty katana.

I recently finished up Plastic Memories. It was a cute little story but the relationship between the two main characters sometimes seemed too innocent.

After rewatching it, I'm pretty sure I like the OG Dragon Ball way more than Z.

Been trying to check out One Piece but it's the longest goddamn thing...I'll probably hit up some recaps once I get to Chopper.

Actually, MetalHeroOfTime, you should really watch Mobile Fighter G Gundam. You'd totally dig it, it's about an angry Japanese young adult martial artist and his girlfriend mechanic travelling around the earth in a Shining Gundam that has magic fingers that can crush people's heads, and they have to find his evil brother who stole the Devil Gundam, and then beat him up while winning a tournament that will determine which space nation gets to rule the other space nations for the next four years.

It has lots of yelling and punching, it has a part where a guy kicks a bullet in half and another part where the main character catches dozens of bullets from all sides with one hand after saving a little girl, and in the second episode they introduce Chipodee Crocket, who's a super strong American Gundam pilot with a giant Gundam with giant Gundam boxing gloves and a Gundam shirt that can be removed to reveal its giant buff Gundam chest. He later becomes part of the main cast of heroes, and the main character's punching pal.

I've never actually watched a Gundam show but I'll start tomorrow! It sounds most bodacious.

G Gundam is very different from most other Gundam shows. I think the most similar one would be Gundam Build Fighters, but even that's very different in tone and plotline. Most Gundams are about the horrors of war, but G Gundam was written as a super giant robot and shonen thing along the likes of Gurren Lagann and Mazinger Z and directed by a super giant robot anime director responsible for Giant Robo and Shin Mazinger Shock.

G Gundam is the only Gundam I enjoy.

have you watched turn-a gundam or zeta gundam

a lot of the gundams are pretty bad because it's a big franchise, but turn-a is a really good one

Never looked into many others. It was either tons of political intrigue or that stupid-ass SD thing as far as I could tell.

School-Live! is a cute anime, i recommend it

School-Live! is a horribly dark anime, i recommend it

In less confusing recommendations, I recommend everybody watch Mind Game and Samurai Champloo if you haven't already. They're two of my favorites.

Samurai Champloo is like Cowboy Bebop, but in Japan and with Samurai and more focused on the main plotline. I'm going to assume everyone here's already watched Cowboy Bebop. (if you haven't, watch it, it's really really good) The Soundtrack is fantastic and the show itself is a lot of fun to watch, check it out. And while you're at it, watch Space Dandy, because it is also from some of the same people and it is amazing.

Mind Game is the movie that basically made Masaaki Yuasa a bigger name in the animation industry. For reference, Yuasa has since been responsible for stuff like Kemonozume, Kaiba, The Tatami Galaxy, Ping-Pong: The Animation, the third episode of Space Dandy, and an episode of Adventure Time. He has a very unique animation style, and one that I personally think looks really cool. As for Mind Game, it's a lot of things. I think the one thing that can consistently describe it is "trippy". It's really, really trippy. And I absolutely ****ing love it. It's only, like, two hours, watch it if you've got time.

I like Avatar The Last Airbender. Its really interesting with the stuff that happens in it ^^. Although not anime by definition (In terms of it not being made in Japan) it does borrow the anime drawing style in it.

Caught up with Ore Monogatari, watching through Punchline and G Gundam, maybe watch through Casshern Sins, Overlord and idk Tenchi Muyo or something??? Actually I should watch the epilogue OVA for Yozakura Quartet and start watching Bakemonogatari now I guess. Still waiting for the next episode of School-Live, also. Maybe I'll also watch Gate and Monster Musume.

Oh, and I'm watching Kaiba now. It's sad.
