Anyone who said Microsoft wouldn't let Rare waste money on an April Fool's Day joke: I guess not, huh?

ColdSkull 31st March 2008 01:38 PM

Heh. Are you sure it's April Fools Joke? Oh yeah, I'm almost certain of it, but still. Think about it. If there's even 0.000001 % change...

Wouldn't that be BEST April Fools Joke ever? It's too clear; We all think it's AFJ. But why can't the joke be opposite? They tell us something BIG, and it would be TRUE, on APRIL FIRST!

Oh. I still think it's AFJ.

I think it's the actual release date...
BK was released on 17 July, 1998 right? ( Correct me if I'm wrong )
PLUS, Rare announced an anniversary... Meh, gotta wait 'till tomorrow.

J@mie 31st March 2008 02:20 PM

Why wont the bloody Rare emplyees tell us if this is real! WHY! I may just take a gun and accidentally have my bullets fall into their cranium...Just maybe...

Tanjo 31st March 2008 02:28 PM

I'm going to keep an open mind about this. There's a 50/50 chance it's an AFJ. And what is this about Blackbeard in the coding? Does my homie from another time period have anything to do with SNS?

Platinum Jinjo 31st March 2008 04:05 PM

not quite

B-K Nostalgia 31st March 2008 04:06 PM

When I saw this update on RWP's news page, it blew my mind.

So awesome. Wow.

BKMasterxD 31st March 2008 04:42 PM

Rare wouldn't pay for a joke.
The answer to Stop 'n' Swop might be there ¬¬'
They could at least edit and put things on their sites.

Yeah I thought that, but you never known... They could be going way out of there way just to make us look like fools

Ghost 31st March 2008 04:52 PM

can you believe i typed in "www.stopnswop.com" at about 9am this morning and it showed a black white page? i check back 8hours later and WOW!! :D

EDIT: damn my spelling, BLANK white page (sorry BKMasterxD). i haven't got a screenshot- there was no point. the page was literally just white, and it said "Untitled Document" at the top of the screen.

BKMasterxD 31st March 2008 04:57 PM

Why is this thread in banjo-threeie forum?

Anyway, Ghost, did you take a screen shot of the 'black white page'?

probs because it could be in B3 (Sns that is) so until we know it's not in B3 it will stay here maybe?

That's the truth. I was checking that site when I was in school, and all I got was empty page. It was white, and there was nothing in the source code. So, there's no reason to get screenshot of that. It was nothing.

When I returned home, the site worked "again" (?).

When that magazine did that retrospective on B-K, didn't the Rare employee being interviewed imply the possibility of clarifying SNS as an anniversary present of sorts? Or by implementing it into Threeie?

The same employee who came here years ago, offered SNS answers and was chased out as a fraud, lol.

Wish we had listened to him :(

enjoi7ca 31st March 2008 05:29 PM

The site looks quite official thus making it a good AFJ. However it would be awesome if it is the real deal.

ConkerTribe 31st March 2008 05:30 PM

I find this incredibly funny.

More people believe the obvious hoax on Spiral Mountain's web site than this hoax made on under Rare's own name.

B-R-E-T 31st March 2008 05:34 PM

@ BKN: lol, that would be Gregg Mayles himself.

Has anyone commented on the less than professional background? Not to criticize the faker's work, but I don't think anyone at the Rare offices made that. Not a bad background by any means, but Rare has standards up the wazoo...

ConkerTribe 31st March 2008 05:37 PM

No one seems to get that it doesn't matter how professional or nonprofessional it looks.

It's March 31. That's all that matters.

It is Rare definately from the address thingy saying that Microsoft own the site or whatever...I dunno what I'm on about tbh...

Unexpected 31st March 2008 05:46 PM

I don't know why, but this made me laugh xD Heh, IF this is true, I think it's going to reveal some hints about SNS before revealing the whole thing.

Lurker 31st March 2008 05:53 PM

Well, looks like someone's April Fools prank is spoiled prematurely.

Only intuition for now.

Koopaboy 31st March 2008 06:20 PM

If this won't be an april fools joke I am gonna rewrite my signature!

mercapto 31st March 2008 06:21 PM

Funny how that website was pre-owned by :

Quote:

Stop! n swop

At last a website that encourages you not to spend your money! This site allows you to look for the things you want and swop them with the things you no longer want.
this site is best viewed in Explorer 4.0 or higher
:D

Oh. I still think it's AFJ.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. I mean, seriously. A Stop N Swap website created the day before AF day? That's just too obvious. Who are they fooling with this?

Unless...they really are revealing it. We're so sure it's a joke that we aren't considering the possibility of it being real at all. If it is real, theb all of us got fooled...and isn't that all Rare wants? :p

BTW, I still think it's a joke.

B-K Nostalgia 31st March 2008 06:58 PM

If it's true: it's awesomely epic.

They should initiate a viral marketing campaign like this for BK3. Mysteries make for great marketing.

I hope it's real but yeah, all logic points towards it being a joke.

But then what? A stamp over the image tomorrow with the words 'APRIL FOOLS' on it? What was their plan with this site before people found it? Or did they want people to find it early?

ConkerTribe 31st March 2008 07:00 PM

My theory is this: The Stop N' Swap web site turns out to be false, of course... but banjo-kazooie.com gets updated with actual stuff about the game. Screen shots. Gameplay bits. General info... In other words, "real" stuff.

But so many people are talking about the Stop N' Swap web site that no one pays attention to it until the very next day.

J@mie 31st March 2008 07:03 PM

I don't think I'm gna be able to sleep tonight knowing there's a site offering the answers to sns...

Kez 31st March 2008 07:06 PM

Well, that's a pretty crap AFJ...

Me too. Maybe they'll release some B3 screenshots with really crappy looking SNS eggs plastered on the screen :p

The most logic explanation I have read so far in this thread

J@mie 31st March 2008 07:15 PM

Im suprised this has got to 9 pages and is yet to receive a post from a Rare employee

MrShyGuy72 31st March 2008 07:18 PM

I am kinda on the fence about this. 90% iTs fake and ten percent its real but thats just my gut
