RWP'S IRC Client

This is pretty much alpha.. I worked on it for two hours last night and got no where :\ So This morning I added some stuff... This is a super basic IRC client and it has maj0r bugs and annoying looking text.

Commands:
/raw : Send raw commands to server such as JOIN #chan or PRIVMSG nick
/nick <Nick> : Changes your nickname
/msg <Nick> : Send private message to a nick

To use: Click 'Connect' then 'Join'.
And start chatting away!

Reason for making this program Use it in mah school :P and I was planning to make a bot out of this.

See what happeneds when a user has background color text? This is Alpha so don't complain ^_^ And I might not release a second one unless people want it

I don't understand RWP Chat, and I certinaly don't understan this. PM's ain't good enough for you all? No, you need high tec gizmos that go in real time? I want the truth! I can't handle the truth!

mikesgm6 10th March 2007 08:44 PM

basically.. you can chat with other rwp users live. Click Connect then when the text stops scrolling you click join.

You will see users online on the left side, From here you can just type in a message and press Enter or Send to send a message to everyone.

Like a chat room? Ahh, can't be bothered, those move too fast, while a forum moves right at my speed.

EDIT: But this is a great addition, so thank you, hopefully it will clear up some of the cluttering that goes on sometimes.

Now this is cool , better than using a Tab or a whole webpage , I can talk and play games at the same time!

Thank you Mike!

(ok that sounded like a infomercial...)

I'm confused, what exactly is the point of this? We have a Java Applet for people that want an easy way in. You can also just connect from another IRC client. So this seems pretty useless to me.

Duker 10th March 2007 08:57 PM

Wait, I checked it, all it is a link to the chat? I am really confused with this whole thing. Couldn't you just click the chat link?

mikesgm6 10th March 2007 08:58 PM

Theres many reasons, Some schools don't allow java.
No, access to some port numbers, so users can easy just change it to 6669 or 7000, even 8000.

IRC works like IM's it uses a special protocol and sends messages to eachother including commands and others stuff.. This doesnt link to the chat but links to the server then joins the channel.
Yes you may use the normal chat, this is just for places you can't like I said before.

Mr.Patch 10th March 2007 09:00 PM

Theres link for the chat in the uper right corner , Duke.

If this is another IRC thing that someone is trying to use in school then thanks for the effort but I doubt it'll work. Henrico County must have the most computer privileged restriction in the world.

Duker 11th March 2007 07:01 AM

I see. Thanks, my school computer dosn't support Java, so this will be hepfull. Now all I gotta do is learn how to work this and the chat...

Actually things like Trillian and AIM programs are blocked from connecting to the network. I have tried other stand-alone IRC clients but they have been blocked too. I have to wait untill Monday to see if this program works.

mikesgm6 12th March 2007 10:58 PM

It seemed to work for me on port 8080 ^_^
