Banjo-Flashie

Banjo-Flashie is a fangame that I'm working on in Flash. This is what I've done so far. Arrows to move, Z to jump, space to pause.

I'll need some help, of course. I'm not sure what to do with the art at the moment, or the story. I would like your opinions.

Thanks!

Pies 24th December 2009 11:09 PM

Awesome it controls really well :D

I am too lazy to help but I hope this does well :)

TRBB 24th December 2009 11:19 PM

Flash game is win, so bump.

1UP 24th December 2009 11:27 PM

Controls just like the GBA game [which I found to be good]

Adam 24th December 2009 11:29 PM

I know nothing of programming, so I won't be able to help very much. If you need a level design, I'm sure I can come up with something.

Adam 25th December 2009 12:26 AM

I know. I was just stating that I've never played an of them.

Unexpected 25th December 2009 12:36 AM

HUMANZ 25th December 2009 04:03 AM

I really like the controls. I eagerly await some real levels.

manga02 25th December 2009 06:59 AM

Good work!

rover-T 25th December 2009 02:13 PM

Looks pretty cool. I can't wait to see the full game! As for the story, I think it should be something that follows Banjo-Kazooie, but is before Grunty's Revenge. Perhaps Grunty time traveled from the end of nuts and bolts to when she fell from her tower and tried to get herself out from under the boulder. At the end of the game is when Grunty's Revenge starts. I would really like to see some new moves in this game, or some moves from Banjo-Tooie, such as the split up pads, or the fps mode. I could help with making the sprites.

Brian 26th December 2009 05:01 AM

This looks pretty awesome so far. It looks like it will be sprite based, too? That will make it even better. Good luck, man. It is a really cool engine so far.

KazooieforHire 26th December 2009 08:19 AM

Wow this is great! Cool work E. Laimo cant wait to see how you move onwards from here.

Derek 26th December 2009 10:06 AM

Please do not abandon this project, it looks so promising.

Greedoguy 27th December 2009 08:13 PM

That's really good for a flash game, it's almost the same as playing Grunty's Revenge. Will you invent a new hub world or use an old one like Grunty's Lair? I always wanted to see a sprited version of it in this style.

E. Laimo 5th January 2010 01:24 AM

Thanks, yes. The idea is to try and copy the Grunty's Revenge engine.
Actually, the idea for this game came from a dream I had about Grunty being a pirate and attacking some random island. So Banjo and Kazooie get sent to the island to stop her.

New.
I tried to make the jumping a bit better. I also made a room using textures. What do you guys think?

cooperace27 5th January 2010 02:55 AM

This flash game is really cool and I can't wait to see what's to come of it.

My only advice is to do what you said you were going to do, and make the jumping smoother. I don't know if it's my computer or not, but whenever he jumps, it lags a little bit.

Well, I like it! There's a glitch, though. Whenever you press a key, the camera locks on to a certain point. This isn't supposed to happen, is it?

I noticed that if you press space, the game pauses, and the screen darkens a bit. Is this going to be the classic pause menu?

TRBB 5th January 2010 10:13 PM

The camera doesn't lock for me, nor does it lag. This is looking great!

Hmmm... Could you please tell me when it lags? Like during the jump, or before it?

That was intentional. It happens when you press the C button. It was to see the stationary camera and the moving camera. I'll take it out though.

That's a placeholder pause menu. I'll put in the menu like in Banjo Kazooie.

RareAddict97 6th January 2010 12:19 AM

That is COOL!! Cant wait for the actual game!

It doesn't lag for me.

Zy0n7 6th January 2010 01:34 PM

When you press 'C' the camera jumps to another spot

Guitar 6th January 2010 07:28 PM

FINISH THIS.

skine99 11th January 2010 04:01 AM

This shows more promise than any fan game I've ever seen. If not a full on adventure, at least make this into a mini game or something. Although full on adventure would rule.

KEWB 11th January 2010 05:09 AM

awesome so far.

JohnyT94 11th January 2010 06:22 AM

Absolutely fantastic. Best start to a fan game that i've ever seen.

LoMoNoCrAt 12th January 2010 10:26 AM

Yes, keep going with this!

Especially due to the fact we haven't seen any preview of Super Winkybunion.

I did have lag right in the middle of the jump, but I haven't been able to replicate it since I posted...

Mombi Jombo 15th January 2010 07:27 PM

Woah these is a good one

Teafed 27th January 2010 03:26 AM

How's the game going?

Dukemike 27th January 2010 04:04 PM

I already love it.

I can run and jump in an oddly formed circle for days.

No joke.

King Gobi 28th January 2010 01:33 AM

I know what you mean dukemike I need my daily hour now........

Sekna 28th January 2010 09:26 PM

E, do you want some help with this? I'll be glad to assist with making the game. I have intermediate Flash knowledge.... :P
It depends on what version of Flash you are using though.
