I've been buying consoles at launch for basically my whole life up to this point, but weirdly I don't feel inclined to do so anymore. Unless there is a launch title that I desperately want to play, I doubt I will be shelling out $400+ on the new Playstation or Xbox consoles whenever they release. There would have to be a new Banjo on Xbox or something that really gets me going like Elder Scrolls to drive the purchase.
When it comes to Nintendo I will always get the new consoles at launch, unless its a 3DS XL kind of situation of course. Chances are Nintendo always will have a game that I am passionate about to drive my launch day purchase because I nerd out about all those IPs.
