All the power-ups from SMB3 are great. The Super Leaf/vanilla Raccoon Mario is still my favorite flying power-up ever. That image of Raccoon Mario on the front of the box is super iconic. Outside of that, my favorite is probably the Penguin Suit. It has all the advantages of the Frog Suit with none of the drawbacks. (The ice balls are probably a little broken, though.)

I remember reading somewhere that the Hammer Suit was supposed to be in
3D Land, but playtesters couldn't tell where they were aiming. I think they could've solved that by making a reticle appear where the hammer will land when you press and hold B. Then you could strafe around to aim and release to throw.
