Rare did indeed say that it could be considered a game itself. That, my friend, is called a marketing ploy. You want your game to sound appealing, so you label the multiplayer experience as something so far from the actual game that it can be considered it's own game therein-itself.
That being said, the rest of the points you made above are completely your own interpretation of what's being said. You are taking the marketing ploy and twisting it into them claiming it is a spin-off canonical part of Conker's history. This is so far from the truth that it frustrates me to read this debate.
