I haven't touched Pokemon: Omega Ruby much since I bought it on release. I finally got to it again and I'm making slow progress, and trying to enjoy it, but I'm getting like I did before, where I don't make any progress on it.

ZeRo is such a little shit at Smash Bros. He only plays the 'best' character at the time, and then quits Smash tourneys when he loses once.

I'm pretty sure he mentioned not even wanting to play anymore like a month or two back. He says it's exhausting. He probably was just waiting for his streak to end to finally take his Smash break. I don't blame him.

Skyward Sword was great! Truly was an amazing game. Can't wait for that Tri Swords game.

Skyward Sword story nitpicks: I understand the need for a set-up, but at nearly two hours with quite long cutscenes that aren't terribly interesting (like, it's charming enough I suppose but it's no Metal Gear Solid so I don't get why characters have to go on and on), it overstays its welcome. Too much talk of "destiny". I always hated that that has been a central conceit in Zelda lately. The entire point of Wind Waker's Link was that he was just some kid from an island, who *proved* his worth by doing what had to be done. From a story standpoint, being the "chosen one", the "hero of destiny" is a horrible concept to lay on the player-character. It's supposed to make the player feel special but I think it has the opposite effect. Being chosen by some higher being defeats the purpose of agency, which is at odds with the gameplay - something that relies entirely on player agency and input, no matter how minimal (and it just so happens tloz has a lot). It would be better to have the goddess seek out a champion to represent her, so at least Link would be presented, story-wise, with a choice.

I strongly agree with this, especially the part about Wind Waker Link. I feel like one of Wind Waker's strongest points is how Link, while still a player insert, also has his own personality and arc where he grows from a dumb, goofy little kid on an old island to a hero travelling the seas, and Skyward Sword feels like it cheapens that a bit with an ultimately pointless plot twist.

It also totally retconed Minish Cap by creating a new origin for Link's outfit when that already happened. The games all worked as self-contained stories perfectly before, so I don't know why they had to go messing things up with timelines and an ultimate origin story. Worst offense was bringing in Demise to explain the origin of Ganon.

Skyward Sword was amazing for me. Loved it when I played it for the first time and years later I still hold it in high regard.

Anyway, I started playing FF14 on the PS4. Jesus, I got a headache just playing the opening tutorial. The controller is definitely not suited for the MMO experience. Chatting is definitely off the table. The text is so small, too. The music is nice, at least. I'm gonna try and get into the hang of things before I give up. I heard nothing but good things about the game so I'llt ry my best to get into. If not, I'll just stick to the single player FF games. Much less complicated.

I don't think the outfit matters so much. There's a reason in each game that Link gets the whole green tunic get-up. Nor did I mind Demise, although he made an even more sudden appearance than Ganondorf at the end of Twilight Princess, and somehow had even less of a personality. I'd like to see the next Zelda game spend more time on the characterization of the final boss. Girahim was great though.

They attempted to explain the origins for almost every hallmark of the series, including the Triforce and the Master Sword. Most series with such convoluted lore and timelines and plot devices don't even bother. I'm glad they tried. Fi is awful. On another note, I know this isn't a Zelda discussion thread, but I think it would be interesting to give Link some dialogue in the new game. I know it's blasphemy, but it'd be nice to see him say some words, for once. Have him be one of the those men of few words types, which could turn him into a badass depending on how it's handled.

The Tales From The Borderlands season finale is one of the best episodes Telltale has put out. 10/10

I've been playing tons and tons of Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness. It's a very enjoyable game, even though you have to grind like hell if you've got a ton of units you wanna keep up and rogues are literally impossible to keep up to speed easily.
