I have never played that game but feel strong nostalgia for it due to seeing it in gaming magazines back in the 90's and wanting to try it out. I've seen reviews and gameplay of it since so I know it's not very good but I still really like the graphic style of it, especially the world design like in the towns.

I enjoyed ProJared's video on Quest 64, and that is the maximum amount of investment I will put into that legendary franchise

Quest 64, I think that was the game that has absolutely no music in it, right? I remember playing that and only sticking with it for about an hour before I decided it was a shitty boring game as a kid, haha. After playing something like Ocarina of Time, apparently my standards were a bit too high.

star ocean: the first departure is a game about having better combat than tales of phantasia and still somehow managing to be infinitely worse in every possible way right down to making any scenes that actually contain its sole sci-fi theme selling point actually worse than the boring generic fantasy stuff

star ocean: first departure - 3/10
a game that is ok, until you realize that it is incredibly boring

star ocean: second evolution - 1/10
a game that is extremely boring, until you realize that it's literally first departure but even more boring and with a full ****ing hour before you get to participate in a single instance of combat

star ocean: 'til the end of time - 5/10
the first twenty minutes are about a giant goober trying to get his hot girlfriend to play video games with him. the thing that makes this superior to the other 2 despite being unplayably slow on pcsx2 is that it was actually remotely fun because the main character's va is terrible and constantly sounds like he's trying to be sarcastic towards everyone he talks to. it's still pretty much cheapo tales and it still gets pretty boring but the opening did not make me immediately hate the game like so2 and the knowledge of the hilariously bad plot twist makes me want to like it just for being really insane

ok now i'm going to play valkyrie profile so that i don't hate tri-ace forever

Been playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions. The combat is pretty fun. It's very similar to Persona 3 and 4, except instead of getting an additional move for striking weaknesses, you equip your party with session attacks that link to certain types of attacks. So if you hit a weakness with Zio, and someone in your posse has a session that links from zio, they go in for an attack, and their attack can be linked to another attack and so on.

Learning skills is more akin to the system from Nocturne or DDS. You fuse a weapon, and then equip it. As you level up that weapon, you learn skills you can equip.

Unfortunately, the plot and aesthetic are a bit generic. And it's really poppy, which can be either a plus or a minus. I'm kind of baffled as to why they went this direction, since it's not really something I can see appealing to SMT fans or FE fans. Maybe Persona fans, though Persona has a bit more grit to it.

I'm also a bit surprised we even got this game at all, given it's a game that was too niche for even niche audiences on a dead system. They didn't dub it, and all the battle dialogue is left untranslated. I think Nintendo may have commissioned the translation to Atlus, so they were probably paid to do it regardless.

They say you should live every day as if it's your last, so I've spent the day playing Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Die Hard: Vendetta, two boring old first person shooters that the world has forgotten.

I was playing Mario and Luigi: Dream Team and during a boss battle a clock appeared and just did 999 damage to both characters and I instantly died and I don't know

Okay, I forgot Dream Team was so long. I don't know who decided that such a paper-thin story needed to be dragged out over forty hours, with the "final area" taking up at least four or five of those hours, but buddy let me tell you they must have been off their rocker!

It seriously amounts to another Bowser showdown after going through the longest, most repetitive incarnation of Bowser's Castle ever seen in a video game. I hate it. So much padding. 20 hours is good enough for a Mario RPG you guys. I'll even take 30. You're pushing your luck, Alpha Dream. I hope Paper Jam isn't this long. I don't see how it could be considering Bowser is the main villain again.

New Doom released an update which adds Arcade Mode, which is basically single player mode but with numbers, combo multipliers, and thingies to collect. It's fun.

I made the non-canon choice of giving my life to save video games on this live-through
