Basically, you can create cards for other people to use, but you can't use any cards yourself.
I have a question. Is there some downside to using cards? As in, what's to stop someone from going and downloading every pinata?

That's exactly what I was thinking... How will you restrict the card system?

What BIGsheep is trying to explain here is that Rare will release special Pinata cards to the public for the Rare/Viva Pinata communities to share with others.

Yeah, but you can make your own pinata cards by taking a picture of your pinata in game and uploading it to the VP site. What's stopping me from just going, finding a scan card of every pinata, and loading them into my game?
With Viva Pinata 1 the way they got around that was by making pinata transactions a 1 to 1 basis. If someone uploads a pinata to me, only I can use it. From the sounds of things, the same bar code can be used by an infinite amount of people. Thus, I could just find every pinata bar code and get them all - unless there is a downside, which is what my question was asking.

Then it is offical
Rare and microsoft are going to launch a special "pinata ink" brand that everyone and their mother will buy, because the pinata cards are going to use 10oz of ink a card, thus costing you more money then the game itself! Boycot rare! don't print anything! save the whales and fish so that in 50 years we will still have seafood! save the human race! don't launch nukes into the sun, making it go super nova and making alot of cash off of "super nova sunscreen"!!!!

Mmm I dont have an xbox vision camera. How much do they cost? If I connect windows media centre to my xbox 360 via my ethernet cable can I use the webcam on that to scan the cards?

So I'm still not sure, do we NEED a vision camera to get certain achievements and piñatas?

I learned the answers to about forty of my questions of the past couple of days.
Quote:
No, you don't. The card just needs to move clearly visible to the camera. You can scan your computer monitor or even use a portable device like an iPod or a Zune to scan it in. Quote:
All pinatas, items, etc. can be obtained without owning a vision cam. However, some achievements revolve around having it like the "scan a pinata card" one.

A big element about VP is you making what you want out of the game. For some people it's all about the leveling up, discovering the pinatas and getting them to reside in your garden. For others, it's all about just want to get certain pinatas and items into their garden, whether they are obssessed with Kittyflosses or just want to create a themed garden, that's just how they play. How others play, though, shouldn't affect how you do. You always have the choice of not scanning in cards or not trading with someone to get a high level pinata before your time. You should just play how you want to and you can always scan or trade when you feel you've reached breaking point with the Parrybo that just won't reside no matter what you do. We have created options for people but it's down to the individual about how they want to use them. It should be worth pointing out, also, that certain cards cannot be scanned over and over, some are one-shots or are on timed delay until they can be reused. Plus, even if they get an animal resident, they still need to actually get the attract, romance, master romance, variant and trick awards, so it's only one piece of the puzzle.
