Koopa Troopa reference in Finding Nemo?
I was watching Finding Nemo yesterday, and I noticed that the baby turtles in the movie has green and red colored shells just like the Koopa Troopas in Super Mario Bros. I think it's a reference to Koopa Troopa but I'm not sure. What do you think, do you think it's a reference or not?

I don't think so, though it looks like it. Let's look.
Finding Nemo sea turtle. (Squirt) IRL sea turtle. They were surely modeled after those. |

There are Turtles with Green Shells and Red Shells.
There are Koopas with Green Shells and Red Shells. There are Pixar Turtles with Green Shells and Red Shells. As long as Pixar doesn't start including Blue and Yellow shelled Turtles, I think it's safe to say that both Koopas and Pixar Turtles were based off of actual turtles. /thread

I did read that color varies within species though, and Chelonia Mydas range from red to green and more, so it's not much of a stretch. |
