If it weren't for the over-collectingness of DK64 I would've voted for it, but DKC gets my vote.

Country is fundamentally superior in every imaginable aspect. DK64 was not a bad game by any means, but it lacked the magic the SNES entries had. I mean, everything seemed somewhat synthetic to me, the music wasn't as good, and some classic aspects of the Country games were totally missing. It certainly has some great moments, (like the climatic fight with K. Rool, which is arguably the best so far) but it honestly can't hold a candle to the SNES DKC's.

I'm currently very angry at DKC because when I turned it on a few days ago all my data was mysteriously erased when I hadn't done anything. DK64 never did that to me, so I voted for that.

DKC2 could present a strong case for being the SNES' best 2D platformer (or even the very best of the 16-bit struggle). DK64 is...meh, there's better stuff on the '64.

Problem with DK64 is, (collection fest aside) it feels a bit too much like Banjo-Kazooie and not quite enough like Donkey Kong. The MORE cartoony style seems kind of obtrusive after the DKCs.

I HATED the backtracking in DK64. That's why DKC gets my vote. Thems country peoples sure knows how to make a game.

I strongly prefer DKC, DK64 was overly complex.

How is it possible to choose between such epic games? I'd say DKC, or DK64...it's too hard. But I prefer DKC. And it's sequels.

DK64 should have been done like Kirby 64. 3D sidescroller.
Jesus, even the Brawl SSE sidescrolling did a better job of being a Donkey Kong game. |

DK64.
I only own DKC2. If that's the best, well, it's pretty good and all. Great art. Great music. But, see, I didn't grow up with it. Perhaps that's the problem. I sort of started with the NES and then that was it until I got a Gamecube in 2002. The platforming seems kind of weird to me. Sort of dodgy. I'll get to a cliff and then fall off as I'm about to make a jump... Eh, I'm not too good at it, maybe.

I liked Country more than 64, even though DK64 was a great game.

As a child, I was pretty much raised on the '64. I have more memories of that game than Banjo-Kazooie! So, I'll have to go with DK64.
From a gameplay-wise view, however, DKC wins. |
