Best way to acquire Gameshark?

Hello.

Recently I reacquired an N64. So I went out and bought my third or fourth copy of Perfect Dark.

Unfortunately it seems my GS (last model I believe) didn't want to work. It's LED display just read "A" no matter what I did. So I just threw it out. It was kind of dangerous to use it anyway since the plastic outer shell had broken.

What is the best way, besides ebay, to acquire one of these things? I wanted to try and make a code that would either disable screen blurring in multiplayer altogether or try to make one that checks to see if a player has died and then sets their blur variable to zero to sort of 'bugfix' the game. It seems emulators still suck for doing this so I need some real hardware.

As an aside, is it even worth it to set up using the cable connection on XP/Vista machines or would it just be easier to buy a legacy Win98 machine for 50$ and use that?

Why not just download Project 64 and punch in codes through that?
Simple, and free

I was going to mention Ebay, until I read "besides ebay".

My GS Pro v3.3 lasted about 6 months...and it was brand new

Itt'l never beat the joy of the Nintendo 64 to be user the zxcasd keys to play Banjo Kazooie...

And if he has the N64 he might as well get one.

And as for the question... The best place other than ebay is to go to these lesser known gameshops rather than chains. I recently aquired DK64 boxed with expansion there. Havn't been happier. And they had Action Replays, but since Gamesharks aren't available in the UK, AR's were the best we could do.

I got mine from a garage sale along with a N64 and atleast 20 games for just $10. Besides that you could always check out Goodwill etc to see if they have any there for really cheap. They'll usually go for about $1-2. If you don't want to waste gas, then just download project 64 and the BK/BT ROM and add your codes in that way.

Flea markets. M N64 was $20, with good games cheap.

?I saw a gameshark for $5 but I was completely broke after that, couldn't buy it.

I bought mine for 3 bucks from a local used video game store, your best luck would be somewhere like that.

Try ebay. GameSharks are called Action Replay or Equalizer because the word "GameShark" is banned in some countries.
