Persona 3 is a game that rewards its players for remembering to stop and use the restroom.

A good shit can really improve the day, but it would have been more realistic if the protag could have absolutely miserable bowel movements that reduces his mood.

I've been playing video games for 30 years, and I've never had a game stick with me the way that NieR: Automata has. I wish I could play it again for the first time, but without that scene in Route C being spoiled for me after four and a half years of avoiding spoilers. I want to finish the remaining side quests and get the remaining Achievements to 100% it in hopes of getting a sense of closure, but...I'm not sure I'm ready for that.

And the 2B Nendoroid sitting next to my mouse pad probably isn't helping. (But she's so cute!)

Also, 'sup, RWP?

I've heard all sorts of good things about NieR but never given it a go myself. Is it a game that sucks people in with satisfying gameplay or is it more about the twists and turns of the story? I've no actual clue what happens in the game mind you.

It’s the writing people enjoy. The characters are always extremely likable and have fun discussions during gameplay. And then shit can get sad or bittersweet.

But Nier’s gameplay is always passable at worst. Automata has fun movement, and the original Nier’s combat as been made way more fluid in Replicant Ver. Whatever the **** that number is. The gameplay’s probably not going to blow your mind or anything though.

drakengard 1 is dynasty warriors for people with big brains. drakengard 2 is dynasty warriors for people without brains. nier is an open world hack and slash for brothers and dads. drakengard 3 is a pretty good power point. nier automata is for gamers

Hmm...looks like that one was a PS3-exclusive, which unfortunately puts it out of reach for me.

I was in the same boat until I finally decided to play Automata - which I had bought back in March 2020 - and I've been unable to stop thinking about it since I played through it in July. The gameplay is pretty smooth and responsive, although it can definitely get repetitive after a while, and, for better or for worse, the game does little to explain some important parts to it (e.g. combos, different types of attacks, being able to use your Pod to long-jump). It also inexplicably doesn't auto-save, and it takes a pretty long while to unlock fast-travel. Thankfully, the game's soundtrack, which lives up to the hype built up by weekly r/gaming threads, makes running around bearable.

Like Snix said, the writing and characters are what shine. The characters are pretty well developed (IMO; this is not a joke about 2B's assets), and the writing feels refreshing after spending half a decade with looter-shooters, Assassin's Creed, and League of Legends lore, even if it sometimes feels like it's winking at you while pointing at a Philosophy 101 textbook. There are also some neat bits that re-contexualize previous events without feeling like dumb retcons; as a Star Wars fan, I'm kind of over retcons, hah.

Firstly, ehmahgerd Icy Senpai noticed me.

Ok now that I've gotten weird teenage anxiety out of the way; That sounds kinda right up my alley, especially if the soundtrack is solid af. Yakuza has been taking up my brain space fully as my gaming project but I may venture off on a sidequest.

Also also also yaaasss Deltarune Chapter 2 this Friday! I am so freaking excited.

It's real easy to emulate if you have a decent pc. In fact, that is the recommended way to play Drakengard 3 lol

Frogger Beyond for the Nintendo GameCube, one of the most expensive PAL games you can possibly buy, is a grotesque overestimation of the value of Frogger. I recommend, for a superior but comparable (and significantly cheaper) experience, Pac-Man World 3.

And, by the way, if anyone else decides to play every Astérix le Gaulois game ever made, I have only one piece of advice: when you are granted the mercy of an Easy mode, you select it
